Intel suggested we had. But, we hadn't. We've been battling Iran for 47 years. So has Israel. Like cockroaches, they keep coming back. And rebuilding their nuclear program, thus the current massive initiative.

Obama presided over the killing of Bin Laden. Did it end Islamic terrorism? Nope.
Bush presided over the killing of Hussein. Did it end Islamic terrorism? Nope.
Obama unleashed a drone war the likes of no other American leader ever. Did it end it? Nope.

There will be no end to wars, ever. Ever. Especially not against Islamic radicals.

Trump wasn't lying, he was operating on the intel we had at that time. Just like every other President prior who made a statement, only to have the cockroaches reappear.
