Iran

Good Lord.
Im about to show you how you put your foot in your mouth again.

You’re blathering about the current popularity of the ACA.

In response to my assertion that you hope Trump fails with regards to Iran you retaliated with:

“You hoped the ACA would fail to the point of insisting it was despite its popularity.” -Trog

You are clearly implying that it was popular when it was initially presented. To which I proved to you wrong as usual.
A significant portion of the public expressed disapproval.

So you see how you put your foot in your mouth?
If the ACA eventually became a success story, then you must agree that what you’re calling a debacle may turn out as another win for Trump down the road. Correct?

Here is a simplified recap step by step.

Step 1:
You implied that the ACA was popular from it’s inception.
Step 2:
I proved you wrong by posting info that says otherwise.
Step 3:
You deflected by interjecting the cost of the Iranian deal vs the cost pertaining to the ACA.

Now read carefully.

Step 4:
I responded by rejecting your deflection stating that I was not debating the cost of the two.
My aim was only to prove you wrong on the comment you made…See Step 1.

Step 5:
I followed that up by asking if you conceded to being wrong based on the info provided…See Step 2.

Well? Yes or no?
😂 Dude! Just take the L already.

Big talk. Will he back it up? The Iranian radicals don't think so.

So, without firing another shot, the US is getting the Iranians to clear the Strait and open it for free use, all the while watching the Iranian activities so the US can keep the Strait open by force later?
No. What I was suggesting was the terms of the MOU provides that access to the Strait will be fee free for 60 days only.and leaves it open for Iran and Oman to negotiate the terms on which ships will be granted passage after that. Nothing about the US keeping it open by force later.

How is it that Iran, rather than the UAE or Oman control the strait?
Geography - at its narrowest point the Strait of Hormuz is only about 21 nautical miles wide. Given two shipping channels (one inbound and one outbound) and separation between them are needed, it's impossible to both enter and exit the Strait without entering Iranian territorial waters (especially as Iran owns an island just outside the Strait that extends it's claimed territorial waters in one section of the Strait).

I wonder if the gulf states have considered building pipelines across SA to the Red Sea and across UAE to the Gulf of Oman to bypass the SOH. Take Iran out of the picture all together.

I'm thinking that Elon Musk could figure out a fast way to build a canal through the UAE and Oman.

So, assuming a maximum speed of maybe 20 knots, it would take a tanker a half a day to clear the strait.
Why not treat it as a single lane road with ships hugging Oman, inbound one day and out the next?

Only have serious here.

I am a Trump supporter obviously.
But this whole deal kinda sucks.
At this point anything short if regime change is a failure.
We didn't stop them from getting a nuke, we postponed it. Hopefully by decades.
I would say we should figure out a way to legally take barrels of oil until the American people are compensated for how much this "war" cost us in taxes.

Not sure if thst is a thing or not But it should be

That would be great. Won't happen.

News reports claim other passages ( Gibraltar, Panama) require fees. They primed you to accept it.

Iran will charge fees. Other business will work around. Pipeline, other sources, channels. Iran will lose economic activities. Money.
