Is Freiermuth ready to challenge Kelce as the Top TE in the AFC

Depends a lot on how good the guy is who’s throwing to him. We shall see.
I look it as if Rudy earns the start it is what the other two didn't show. Then we are in for a rough season. If Mitch or Pickett earns the start that above .500 will revisit. Might even squeeze in a playoff victory.

Whichever the QB is that gets us that PO victory will rise to a very qwick FAMOUS statis !!!

I would like it to be Rudy because he is such an underdog in all this QB turmoil................

I like underdogs but man he is painful to watch.

I'm all for letting the best competitor earn the job at QB1... Right now, I'm thinking Kenny will earn it, but we'll see... Mason Rudolph has more experience holding a clipboard than any player on the Steelers team... He'll win QB2 outright...
If you think about it, that's the easiest job in football... well, maybe backup punter, but they usually have another job, too...

He isn't a lock for number 2 by no means. I wouldn't even dollar down on that. I would say right now his odds are 50 percent or less he wins the number 2 spot. If both Kenny and Mitch out perform him in preseason don't be shocked to see him sitting at three come the season opener.

He's been doing it longer than any Steelers QB currently on the team.... he's the best right now... there is not another QB2 on the roster... You believe QB2 is just QB1 lite??? It's a completely different position...

Yes there is.

And no, QB2 is not a completely different position. The positions are identical. Their roles are the only thing different.

Anyway, children aside... I believe Ben WILL BE a HoF'er, but I do not believe he is one now.... Likewise, I believe Kelce will get in thanks in large part to his Championship... So I see no problem with recognizing them as future HoF'ers.... A lot can happen in the intervening 5 years.... There haters, if you have a problem with that, you're a Ben-hater and cuttin' off your nose to spite your face....

Mitch was brought here to start and then Pickett kinda fell into our lap. Mason is just not very good. Pickett has experience with Canada's offense and both Pickett and Mitch are more mobile than Mason. I do not see them taking reps away from Pickett for Mason and I do not see them demoting Mitch to QB3 unless he is just god awful. I believe Mitch will start for at least part of the season and unless he is tearing it up Pickett will take over. I think Mason will either be cut or QB3

I agree, Mason is not very good... as a starter. There's evidence of that... Mason is great as a backup... There is ample evidence on many occasions where he has come in, run the clock, kept the ball out of the opponents' hands, and led a scoring drive... Now he's been criticized for only scoring 3; but I'll take 3 and eating 7 minutes over 7 and giving the other team the ball.... Especially with Pittsburgh's lack of tackling last season... Time of Possession was an important weapon last season...

The steelers were 20th in TOP last season which is not that great and were 18th in 3rd down percentage. Only 2 teams that made the playoffs had a worse TOP than us which was the Eagles and Rams. I do not recall them being a possession offense last year other than throwing 2 yrd passes every play. They also averaged less than 7 point the whole first half of games for 2021. We did better the second half averaging about 13, but we were playing from behind a lot.

Try looking at situational football... You are correct from 30,000 feet... and agreed, often the Steelers PLAYERS (STILL NO "WE," FOLKS) did not execute the possession gameplan/philosophy well....

Rudolph seems to do better when he comes into a game and not so much when he knows he's starting and has all week to think about it.

Not sure what you mean? 3rd down is situational......Not sure what you call not scoring in the first half, but it is not good. The offense did jack in a lot of games in the first half and really put the pressure on the D, lots of 3 and outs etc etc....1st quarter we were dead last in scoring, 2nd quarter we were 30th, 3rd quarter we were surprisingly 24th (I thought we would be higher), and 4th quarter we were 2nd. The offense basically waited till the last quarter to do anything.

Mason tends to float his out route passes. I forget which game he came in, but I think it was his first pass was a split second away from being a pick 6. Mason doesnt seem to have an issue throwing the ball far, but I just dont know why he doesnt put more zip on the short / intermediate passes. He does not move well in / out of the pocket and I just do not see a lot of upside with him. If you make Mason #2 then either Pickett or Mitch will be #3 and I really dont see that happening. Mason just took a swipe at Ben recently and he gives me vibes of acting like a spoiled kid. He is definitely in a tough situation, but he has had a lot of chances to show what he can do and just did not take advantage of them. I think Mitch or Kenny would truly have to suck to not be 1,2. I personally think Mason will be cut, but if that happens it will be risky with 3 new QBs.

I would be surprised if he is cut. I was thinking they would trade him if he had a fit if he didn't win 1 or 2. Just for me no reason to deplete depth if there isn't a problem that needs to be addressed. He has been working on his release per Sullivan. I am curious how that will impact his game particularly in the red zone. Which he struggles with getting those footballs into tight windows. Then I told ol girl earlier what if he is initially better but when the pressure is on we see the same ol Rudy? If things are equal I don't see him being higher than the third option. But he does have game experience favoring in for the 2nd spot.

That is pretty common when lack of experience is present. He would simmer down and play had he gotten more starts(experience) but glad he hasn't gotten the starts.

could see a 70-85 catch 600-800 yard breakthrough with 2 young QB and with them both with a completely new set of WR. Could see TE as Mitch or Kenny's best friend after Harris. He with Ben had 60 catches for 7 TD and that a noodle arm as well. I See him as a top 7 fantasy TE
1 Kelce
2 Andrews
3 Kittle
4 Waller
5 Pitts
6 Ertz
7 Muth/Goedert/TJ
