Joe Brady new Bills HC

I thought Steelers fans hated McCarthy. They wanted no part of Brady.

If the Turds don't hire Scheelhaase as HC - can Fat Mike lure him to Pittsburgh???

I want to have hope...
Turds are thisclose to hiring Jim Schwartz as their HC. There must be something going on with the Rams assistants/coordinators. They are definitely not getting the traction we all thought they would.

Possibly the Rams D getting its arse kicked since the beginning of December has cooled interest in Shula. Last 9 games (incl playoffs), 5 games with 30 plus points against and a 27 pointer. Scheelhaase likely doesn't have broad enough skillsets/insufficient NFL experience to get over the line for a head coach role at this point in his coaching career.

If I'm a Bills fan, not happy. Imagine the Steelers just promoting Art Smith and maintaining status quo. Josh Allen should ask for a trade.

Filliponi reported a source claiming that Shula's interview with the Steelers was "horrible" and they also felt Scheelhaase wasn't ready.

It's amazing to me how many people were convinced these guys they hadn't heard of until Tomlin retired were can't miss HC prospects. For every Mike McDonald and Ben Johnson, there's a Zac Taylor, Mike McDaniel, Matt Nagy, etc.

Being a young hot coordinator is far from a guarantee of success.

Former Penn State coach Joe Brady.

I think after the Beane fiasco where it's obvious that he back stabbed McDermott, a bunch of other coaches may not have wanted the job, Josh Allen or not. This reeks of Beane advising for a coach he can bully.

Of course it isn’t a guarantee none of the incoming coaches for any team are a guarantee.

Yet the favored team in the SB has a young coach. Who was a solid coordinator.

Then you had Vrabel that actually was a good young coach with Tennessee and had two down years and was canned.

Still he showed some good things in Tennessee.

Nobody necessarily thought they (Shula,Nate, etc.) were can’t miss prospects. They could turn out great or not so great the jury is still out.

Still that shouldn’t stop a team from trying.

And you try by bringing them in and taking a close look.

That Shula report is conjecture from an attention *****. Nobody should ever take anything that Poni says as a confirmation.

Anywho my number one like is still shining bright Kubiak. I have a gut feeling he will prove to be a shining star. We will revisit…

I read Allen sat in on the interviews. I could be wrong, but I bet this one has the stamp of his approval.

I like the HC having control of his own destiny. No hiding behind others for 10 ****** years. Sink or Swim baby.

No annual scapegoat firings.

Maybe it's just Stockholm syndrome, but each day this hiring looks better to me. I still hate the "wide net" that they cast to find Mike. Seemed pretty knee jerk/short sighted. Like the "never a losing season" type of argument.

Bottom line to me is that this team has a better head coach today than they did a month ago.

At the very least, they should be the best coached they've been on the offensive side since Haley and Munchak were with the team.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean the overall results will be better than they've been right away.

It may take McCarthy a year or two to sort things out, and I'm OK with that, but there will need to be pretty substantial progress by year three.

It wasn't exactly a super quick turnaround for the Broncos with Sean Payton, especially considering they started with a declining Russell Wilson at QB.

Well, seems like McCarthy is attempting to reincarnate his old team, Packers, as he seems intent on bringing guys he has worked with in the past onto his coaching staff instead of looking for new up and comers. Steelers set to hire the Raider's DC. Yep, let's just lock up the worst NFL franchises coaches - it should work here no problem, right?

Quite a few teams have had success employing Cleveland Browns coaches, so maybe the Steelers can replicate that success with an ex-Raiders coach.

It's not even that. People see he last coached with a Raiders team that was pretty bad. No one bothers to look at the numbers or what the guy had to work with. I'd say he did a pretty good job considering what he was given. Does that mean he'll be awesome in Pittsburgh? Not necessarily, but acting like the guy is some horrible DC JUST because he came from the Raiders is shortsighted at best.
