Jordan Davis

They need another starter at CB, so I still have it high. They need another at WR as well given the 3 WR sets they run. I'd expect there to be good players at both positions.

I just did a quick mock draft and these are the guys available, who do you take?

WR: Chris Olave, Treylon Burks
CB: Andrew Booth, Kaiir Elam
Best of the rest: Tyler Linderbaum, Devonte Wyatt, Trevor Penning, Zion Johnson
WR - Olave, no questions asked between him and Burks
CB - Elam, watched the kid play very well in the SEC

If they're both gone - Penning is my guy...

Olave, I still think Zion is a good possibility. Penning too... Williams. Davis...

That is my band of the hand of who I think might be there.

Man who to pick... This year it is harder. I think by the time of the draft they can go BPA.

I think Davis is off the board but if not that gets my nod.

But I think he is gone.

I want to say then Zion but with such a close group ... And with bigger needs...

I will settle on Olave.

Not who I pick but I think they get the new QB a WR. Olave isn't coming off injury so he gets my nod.

Dotson isn't stopping me from drafting Zion. However, I'm taking Olave there as well. I really hope they lock in another cornerback so there is less of a need.

I think Rats go O'line, they need help there and they haven't done much with the O'line in FA.
Possible I just don't think he gets to the steelers pick. I'd be satisfied if they got Penning or one of the top corners.

The chargers just signed a nose tackle today, guy from the Rams. I doubt Davis gets past the shitbirds.
Day is not a true NT run stopper ...Don't see that stopping the Chargers from taking Davis...they were as bad as us stopping the run last season

This is your brain on drugs. This is the Steelers trying to draft a CB in the 1st round. DO NOT ******* DO IT! DL is still our No. 1 need right now. I'd even consider a stud WR if they fall, especially if we sign JuJu. At that point, DJ may be gone. He and Minkah won't get contracts until closer to the season. DJ should be after Minkah.

Yeah they sucked against the run too and I don't know much about Day other than he used to play for the Chargers coach. I was all in on Davis to the steelers before the combine, was even hoping he didn't test so well so that he might fall to the Steelers but that ship has sailed. Someone will get him but I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it was the Steelers. Go BPA at a position of need.

I don't see CB as high w/ the Levi Wallace signing.

Not a "house on fire" need, but team still has not signed Witherspoon and Wallace is a #2. Still a pretty big need.

WR, IMO, is. We need a big bodied, fast WR that can separate like DJ and catch the ball like Mr. Big Chest...

Agree. The line improves, Trubisky gets 3.2 seconds to find a target and deliver the ball. That means somebody has to get open in 3 seconds or less.

And then catch the ball.

I'm still pimping Jameson Williams...

If Williams is still there at 20, the Steelers should definitely consider him. His skill set is amazing. 6'2", 190 lbs., BLAZING speed. The knee is reportedly doing fine.

However, there will be some really good WR's in rounds 2 and 3. Georgia's George Pickens suffered his ACL injury (what the hell is the deal with top-end WR's and ACL?) a year ago, is back to full health, played in Georgia's last four games, is the ideal size and speed, good hands. He will probably be available in the 3rd.

Also, another ACL injured WR and somebody from the WR factory you know and love, John Metchie III, is a receiver I prefer over Williams. Mechie's route-running really does remind me of AB. Dude is open ALL. THE. TIME. Because of his December ACL, he drops to the 2nd/52. Know the only CB I saw give him a tough time? Kaiir Elam.

Or how about an FCS workout warrior and very productive player, Christian Watson? Good hands, incredibly successful on the deep ball, big as hell (6'4", 211 lbs.), fast, would have averaged more than 100 YPR if he played in Canada (cuz the field is ... never mind). Another 2nd round guy.

Alec Pierce from Cincinnati. Big (6'3", 212 lbs.), incredible fast-twitch skills, long arms that he uses to abuse CB's trying to jam him, fast, good productivity at Cincy. Some drops in college, however. I have him as a 3rd round guy/84.

Later rounds, Kevin Austin - Notre Dame. Basically just one year as a starter but produced 18.5 YPR, 8 TD's. Ideal size, good speed. Lack of significant college playing time makes him a 5th round ... okay, 6th round ... dammit, 7th round target.

If other players we want on the OL and DL aren't there at 20 and one of the top WR's falls to us, I would have no problem selecting them.

You know by now that I am pushing for the Steelers to take a top-tier CB at 20. I keep hearing about how the Steelers are terrible at developing CB prospects, don't draft a guy in the 1st, don't do it, get a guy from another team - but what exactly is that based on?

Artie Burnt in 2016, I guess? Steelers panicked because they were in the dreaded OSWNAG draft position and the Bungles jumped ahead of them and picked Witherspoon. Okay, Burnt was a flop. So was Jarvis Jones, an OLB. Should they have passed on Watt because of that?

Who else? Senquez Golson, a 2nd rounder, and Justin Layne, a 3rd round pick? They got Cam Sutton in the 3rd in 2017 and he's pretty good.

Maybe the problem is not that the Steelers are "terrible at developing CB's." Maybe the problem is that the Steelers have not selected an elite CB since ... what, Bryant McFadden? The genuine issue is that the Steelers simply DON'T SELECT top-flight CB's because they wait until the 3rd round and later to select them.

I hear they dined Davis and Dean....
