I like JuJu, he's playing fine. It's just hard for me to classify him as "a true #1 receiver" when he's averaging 47 yards per game and 9 yards per catch.

Juju is a very good complimentary player... he is not the guy who teams gameplan for though... we saw it last year... he doesn’t carry an offense, but if teams focus elsewhere he can make them pay. True star number ones produce at a high level despite being doubled or tripled or game planned for...

No knock on him... he is like a big physical slot receiver that can play inside or out... he is fairly productive

I’m not a huge fan of Juju. He is a solid receiver. The thing that sticks out to me the most is his lack of crying for the ball. He’s (at least publicly) a team player and executes the game plan without pissing and moaning. It’s refreshing to see after the me, me, me of the young money squad.

In the article and I quote "Once the 2018 season began for the Steelers, Smith-Schuster was off to the races. He started in 13 of the 16 overall games, during which he caught 11 passes on 1,166 targets for 1,426 yards and 7 touchdowns."

Ummm what?

If you pay him as a No. 1, he is in the back half of the No. 1's in the league. No way I pay him anywhere near top 10 money unless he turns it way up the rest of the year.

Especially if he can only catch 11 passes on 1,166 targets. But man that TD to catch ratio is damn good. 11 passes for 7 TD's and for 1426 yards. WOW!

ALSO I saw an interview of BEN and he talked about post game going into the locker room. He was thinking he might find jelous WRs due to Chases' big day. He said he walked in and ther was JuJu, not by Chase at all but smiling and telling everyone how great a day Chase had. JuJu was genuinely happy for Chase and selfless as could be. BEN also commented on how nice it was to see & have that selfless attitude through out the team and how much different that was in comparison to the some past players.

There is good reason to want JuJu on the team and rest assured that the STEELERS will fight hard to keep him on the team.

Salute the nation

I saw that too but figured The touch down count was wrong as for each catch he averaged about 106 yards. :caked:

I also noticed that when a play is called in his direction- run, pass, screen- if he’s not the target, he's blocking and not half *** blocking like the guy who wore number 84. I gotta throw Washington in there too. He’s a very good support player.

I think people forget how young JuJu is as well. I think JuJu brings alot of energy and enthusiasm to the locker room which is needed. Once our other WRs step up i think JuJu will start to break out. Teams can't ignore Claypool now, Ebron has been targeted lately.

He has yet to perform as a #1....

Luckily for him we just need 4 #2's...Cause he is only a #2 anyway. but a very good #2

Hopefully he realizes that he is not a true number #1. He doesn't seem one to chase the $$ but who knows. he can have a nice long career here

Ju-ju isn't a featured #1 by himself. He needs someone really good on the other side for the defense to worry about to shine.

I do think he is a very good player though. It will be interesting to see how he does as Claypool continues to develop and Ebron gets a better understanding of hiss new team.

By now it should be obvious to everyone Claypool's size, deep speed and side line ability for 50/50 type of throws are greater than anyone's on the team. Though he's not played long enough to classified as a breakout star, he's got the tools to do it, and isn't too far from the label.

To be clear for everyone confused of what a #1 receiver is. It is largely created by media as a player that gets the most stats from a team. Could be an X, could be a Z, could be a Y (slot). On the Steelers the #1 is normally the X. Ward, Holmes, Stallworth, AB are all Xs and are perceived as the #1 receiver because they get the majority of the targets.

On this team, JuJu plays the Y. He's a big slot, which is a mismatch. The most important aspect of the '#1' reciever is who draws the coverage? Who gets double teamed or bracketed in coverage?

Right now, that player is JuJu. He took all of the coverage last year which is why DJ let in receptions and TDs, and Wash led the team in yards. JuJu was still the #1 because they didn't roll coverage to stop the edges last year, It was all bracket coverage from the middle of the D with LBs and Ss.

So this year the Steelers did a great job of picking up Ebron to split JuJu's coverage in the middle, since you just can't key on JuJu anymore. Claypool is feasting because of JuJu taking multiple players on his routes. Remember when Ben audilbled at the end of the game for Claypool's post route TD. He yelled to JuJu, saying you have the out. JuJu ran the out, his CB followed him and so did the center safety, leaving Claypool 1 on 1 with a LB. This is the aspect of the game a lot of you are missing when dismissing JuJu's value to the team. He's taking coverage and the rest of the team feasts. Now that Claypool had an insane game, look for the Browns to overreact to stop Claypool, and if they do, JuJu will have a BIG game.

I picked up Claypool in my fantasy league. I'm thinking about starting him and Juju and benching my other receivers this week. According to my site's fantasy info, it looks like Cleveland isn't great against WRs, or tight ends, or QBs.

Good luck, its usually pretty risky to double dip on wideouts on the same team. Personally I would hedge my bets somehow. But I hope it works for you cause that means lots of points today.

Yeah, I hear ya. It's risky. Right now, I think I have five Steelers starting on an 8 man roster, Ben, Ju Ju, Chase, Ebron & Boswell. We'll probably hang about 10 points on Cleveland today. I've also got to fill a running back position since Melvin Gordon is out today. I might try to pick up Franco Harris.

Franco is a solid waiver pick up!

I call this a load of media crap.

2019 is a huge asterisk because not only was he hurt; so was Ben. Brown wouldn’t have produced jack **** last year if he were around.

Schuster is a baller. It’s just dumb to say he’s not. We’re not trying to win shootouts anymore... screw the stats; 5-0 because it’s a different hero each week—this week it was James Conner.

It’s no different than the idiotic Fitzpatrick ****—he’s still there to break you & #39 started the steamroller today

Yep. Ben doesn't feel the need to force a number of throws to any certain player just to keep them happy. A team effort by all...week in and week out so far.

No he is not....2 catches for 6 yards. Has never extablished himself post AB...

Can't argue that JuJu hasn't been getting a lot of catches/yards. But just wondering... how many targets did he get today? (hint... 2)

How many times did he draw coverage so Claypool or Washington was open? (hint, more than 2.) He's still contributing. Or would you rather he just left the team with no replacement. heck, let's just put Claypool out there with 9 linemen and Ben. Right?
