Just a little over 24 hours away

Football is almost back!!!!

Opening of training this week and players reporting tomorrow. It’s finally time to get to see who won’t be used properly in black and gold!
...as they prepare for another non losing season! I'm fired up man!!

We're all interested to see how the offense comes together without Ben. Will Trubisky finally perform up to his #2 slot or will this team struggle and Pickett get a chance to play at some point?

We will find out how good of a coach we have without his safety blanket too...

Load the boat on the Steelers over 7.5 wins. And throw a few bucks on them winning the division at 9.5:1. Do it today before camp begins -- those odds will be reduced by the start of the season.

They won 9 last year with the toughest schedule in the league, and they have improved at several positions, including the most important one. Plus Tomlin will give everything he's got to go at least 8-8-1.

So glad that some sort of football is back! Very excited to see this team with all the changes and additions. On the Trib Train! Fire it up!

I’d feel a lot more confident in betting the over if they fired Canada and hired a **** flinging monkey…dude flat out sucks and is in over his head.

Prove me wrong Canopus love to see it

The no losing seasons was a Ben thing, Cool Shades was just lucky enough to be riding his coat talis

uh oh!

Canada is the X-factor in a lot of this. I was hopeful and optimistic until his name was brought up. I hope his leash is short and tight.

Should be an interesting year indeed. We finally have mobility at the QB position with Mitch and Kenny. We have new and young blood with Pickens and Cal Austin and think Miller could be in the mix as well. My worry is the OL. Did we do enough? Daniels is a plus at RG, Cole a small upgrade over Green at Center. Can Big Dot replicate a solid rookie season or does he revert back to his sloppy play from last year. The LT and RT are huge concerns. If these two don’t step up, it’s going to be a long season.
I like our RB and TE both rookies last year to have solid sophomore seasons but again, a lot depends on the OL.
Which brings us to Canada’s offense. What exactly will we see here? It’s said that his offense is predicated on mobility at QB and we now have that. The jury is out and if this fizzles out early we’re in for a long *** season.
Defense I think there are question marks all over the field. Did we do enough to fortify the DL? Will the young guys take a step forward? Will the old guys Cam and Tyson play at a high level as the wear and tear continues to take its toll? Will the addition of Larry O help? Strong pass rusher but not not good against the run.
LInebacker, solid with TJ and Highsmith.
Question marks for me are definitely Bushy and even Jack who actually saw his play slip the last couple years.
CB and Safety very average with the exception of Minkah. Witherspoon and Levi had better step up big time and Terrell Edmonds is just a guy who was a huge reach when drafted.
Then you have new defensive coordinator who we don’t know if Tomlin will allow to call his own defense. The plus side to this off season was hiring Coach Flores who I happen to think is a great defensive coach but will Tomlin let him coach?
ST should be better with our new punt and kickoff return man. Go Gunner! Derrick Watt will again captain the STs and that’s a plus. Still have bubbles as the coach and that’s a negative.
Kicking game with Boz remains as one the best in the league. Punting game better improve and have to think it will with Harvin.
Of course everything as always will hinge on who the starting QB will be for the first time in 18 seasons and how will Tomlin handle this. He’s never ever had to deal with this before so it should be interesting.

I'm no fan of Matt Canada either, but it will be interesting to see if adding mobility to the quarterback position makes his offense more palatable.

Obviously Ben's great play had a lot to do with Tomlin's streak, but Ben actually had two losing records personally as a starter (7-8 in 2006 and 0-2 in 2019). Other quarterbacks went a total of 9-6 to get the Steelers to .500 in those two seasons.

Soon ... training camp/preseason chat vs "why didn't the Steelers trade for Kurt Montana?"

A lot of Steelers fans can't face the reality of how bad Ben really was last year. His passer rating was 86.8, 24th in the NFL, behind guys like Davis Mills and just ahead of Taylor Heinicke and Daniel Jones. His QBR was even worse at 26th, right behind Jared Goff.

Ben ran for five yards in 2021. Yes, five yards. For the entire season. Trubisky had 195 in his 10 starts in 2020. Pickett had 241 yards rushing in 13 games at Pitt...and that includes the subtraction of sack yardage.

As a rational thinker, it's hard for me to imagine either of those two guys (or any combination of their stats) finishing lower than 26th in the league in 2022 QBR.

Hard to be less palatable referring to Canada AND obviously had Ben stayed healthy he could have easily done as well/better than the replacements in those two years specifically 2019…2008 more than likely same result

A motion offense like Canada’s does require some studying and time. Ben just seemed like he wanted to do his thing that he liked and liked only. I think this offense will do well this season under Mitch (Pickett in the later half if needed).

Bruce Arians use to rent one of my "****" flinging Monkeys all the time.

Salute the nation

WHY 80's and not 70's ???

Salute the nation
that music just sounds 80s to me, the synth drums especially.
Did some research and the song was made in 1981 and was part of the soundtrack of Risky Business, the sex in the train scene, maybe that's why it stuck in my mind to that era.

steelhurt, EXCELLENT post.

There are SO many question marks this year.

QB is a BIG question. Big Ben is gone and yes the present QBs are more mobile but that isn't saying much with the POOR OL play last year. I'm still scratching my head wondering How Najee got so many yards despite the poor OL play.

What really scares me is the first 7-8 games of the regular season. If we go 3-4 or better we will be competitive.

Pray for improving play and no serious injuries.

And Shane Falco, our Offense with a new QB has to "have heart"
