Jalen Hurts is the comp. In his four years as a starter he’s averaging roughly 3300 yards passing, 20 TD, 9 INT, 700 yards rushing, 13 rushing TDs.

Doesn’t seem impossible to me, in fact thought Fields could do that if they leaned into having a dual threat QB.

Final piece of the puzzle, however, would be getting a legit DC, something Tomlin just won’t allow.

Milroe is not Hurts. These comparisons always kill me. Short white QB with quick release? Oh, he's Drew Brees. No, he's a practice squad guy. Black QB who is really fast? He's Jalen Hurts! No, he's a project.

Milroe might be worth a late 2nd round pick as a developmental QB but of course the Steelers don't have a 2nd round pick. If they use the 21st on the guy, the franchise will be in the dumpster for the next 3 years as they wait for Milroe to develop under a staff that has never developed a QB, while watching their aging DL get run over by quality OL's.

Not going to start a new thread, but did another steeler website recently shut down? Seems like there are a few more new posters more so than usu
al. And them seem knowledgeable.. good times

Wait a minute, wait a minute

There are other Steeler websites?

Just think if those are out there, what else could be out there?!?!

Unfortunately Art Nutting already rented out the dumpster for a controlled burn for the next 3 years

We don’t know how he’ll develop but his tools are better than Hurts’ tools when he came out. Hurts year at Oklahoma is what moved him up the draft, his two at Bama were very similar to Milroe’s.

BTW, I was comparing playing styles, production, and measurables, not skin color. You’re telling on yourself a little here.

My Draft has us taking him with a 3rd I like him… if nothing else covert him to safety… I like the fact he faced a lot adversity in his career gives him something to overcome… he has talent we ain’t never going to get in top ten to draft another Big Ben… best to try and build us a Frankenstein!

Akili Smith approves this message

It was mis-measured at the Sr. Bowl, as were several OL and DL arm lengths.

Re: Milroe and Hurts, former scout Matt Williamson thinks Milroe’s tools/talent are much better, FWIW. Doesn’t mean it will translate to the NFL, but to dismiss him out of hand is foolhardy.

He has multiple elite traits (deep ball, running), Dart has none.

Maybe Milroe in R3. He's gonna have a long wait in the green room...

Berm begs to differ...they aren't exactly the same but there are a lot of major similarities in their game play and character...

First, both from Texas. Ah shucks - have a look at how eerily similar their NFL draft profiles are:

So as the resident Bama expert how would you rank, in order of NFL starting QB potential (ceiling)
the recent Bama QBs: Tua, Hurts, Young, and Milroe. I know you’ve seen all their snaps 😎

I’ll start the list for ya
1)
2)
3)
4)
5) Mac Jones

I cannot cite two players who were described as mirror images who actually played the same. These comparisons come out every March for baseball players and every April/August for football players and they never turn out to be even remotely accurate. I scanned a few comparisons by the "professionals" the past couple years and found these:

  1. Anthony Richardson, Florida: More explosive Cam Newton
  2. C.J. Stroud, Ohio State: Slightly more dynamic Sam Bradford
  3. Bryce Young, Alabama: Smaller Tony Romo
  4. Will Levis, Kentucky: More athletic Carson Wentz

Sure. You bet. Spot on.

Some more of these brilliant comps (from 2022):

Kenny Pickett is Tony Romo
Garrett Wilson is Stefon Diggs
Devin Lloyd is Fred Warner
Ahmad Gardner is Antonio Cromartie
Alec Pierce is Jordy Nelson
Ikam Ekwonu is Tristan Wirfs
Derek Stingley Jr. is Marshon Lattimore
Jordan Davis is Vita Vea
Trevor Penning is Jon Runyan
Chigoziem Okonkwo is Jonnu Smith

Wow, spot on. Except for vastly overrating Pickett, Wilson, Lloyd, Pierce, Ekwonu, Davis, Penning and Okonkwo, or 8 of the 10 comparisons. Other than that, spot on.

All of the QBs, outside of Milroe have had better OLs, WRs and complimentary RBs.

They all are special teammates because they all had to sit a year to learn the "Saban-way".

Coach Deboer came in and struggled MIGHTILY in the SEC. NIL leveled the playing field and the dynasty we were vanished in front of our eyes over the past 2 seasons.

But JM still choose to stay. He lost great teammates who bailed when Coach Saban retired. His game play changed from a developing all round QB to a run first threat. I hated watching last season. Hated it.

A lot of people, who don't watch and have inside information, have strong negative opinions about young Milroe. I, however, know and see the silver lining through the clouds.

So, will I ever stop supporting Bama and its players. Never. If we select Milroe at any point during the draft I may need an ambulance and lots of oxygen because I will be overly excited but time will tell.

I still think Bryce has a lot to show the league and those talents started blooming late last season...

Not a day 1 starter for sure but has the best traits in the draft with Ward. I keep hearing he’s not accurate but completed 64.3% of passes in college. Ball placement is a concern, that can be corrected with good QB coaching.

BTW, Josh Allen was a 56% passer in college, the allegedly “much more polished passer” Lamar Jackson was 57%.
"...that can be corrected with good QB coaching..." Nuf sed. That's why he won't succeed here.

Wow, Jones over Milroe…yikes
I thought for sure Milroe would have a higher ceiling.

Bryce definitely looked a lot better after DJ left 🤣
Coincidence???
I like that he had a bit of a redemption tour to close out last season, fans were really getting on him too early calling him a bust when he had a crap OL, crap coaching and no weapons when he was rushed into the franchise savior role in his rookie year.

I’m expecting some big strides from him this year.

I was honestly hoping with your Bama glasses on you would place Milroe over Tua and Jones (cuz I got a feeling he’s one of the top 2 Steeler options)

If he’s fifth that’s a bit scary for an early pick in Milroe. I do see some nice traits for him if he can put it all together and add some consistency.

So do you like him over the likes of Shough, Ewers or Howard comparing this year’s prospects or is he last on that list too?

He HAS to be ranking their Bama performance, Milroe’s ceiling is miles higher than the busted out Jones and the mid Tua. I’d put it higher than Hurts, who is good but riding an insane supporting cast. Not sure about Young yet, he turned things around a bit last year on an awful team.
