Perhaps Blake is finally being seen for the liability that he is...

It'd be nice to have a corner taller than 5'10 thats for sure. McCarron was just throwing jump balls to A.J. Green over the middle and the secondary couldnt stop it. Wonder if they'll sign him.

Thought this was going to be about Tyler Patmon

So, he couldn't make it with the Saints. THe Lions dumped him, and now we work him out. Oh perfect! Our problems are solved! Boy, that Tomlin sure has an eye for talent.

I don't think this workout was, in any way, meant to "solve" any problems nor does the staff view this kid as some kind of solution for anything. It's just a workout. And it's the middle of December. I think most impact players are on a roster already so dumping on Tomlin for taking a look is really being kind of obtuse

Don't know about a guy cut by the Saints, who's secondary is atrocious

That was for the purpose of adding him to the practice squad, not the 53 man roster.
Lions just cut him from their PS.

Saints D is 31st in YpG, 32 in Rushing YpG, 30th in Passing YpG, 31st in Int Rate, 25th in Sacks/pass Attempt, 32nd in 1st downs allowed per game, 30th in Red Zone % and 32nd in Points allowed per game.

And he couldn't make it on that team.

They look at guys on the street every week --- if 3 CBs get injured on Sunday, they have to sign someone and it helps to know who's in shape and who's not. Nothing to see here. Maybe they could sign him to a futures contract after the season and see if he could play safety...

He would be an ideal practice squad guy or dump the dead weight of Jacoby Jones and have him replace that roster spot. Saints reached on him a little and maybe because of that they expected him to produce quicker than he did. He was always going to be a 2-3 year project so I don't understand why they were surprised he didn't come in and start off the bat.

I think in our cover 2 type system and with the Steelers facing AJ Green twice, Josh Gordon probably once, and if Perriman ever gets healthy twice having a big bodied CB might be a good idea. Lets kick the tires for a few weeks see if he can pick up the defense at all and what he does in practice. That is pretty much what they did with Cockrell and he's been a nice addition. Maybe next year with have Cockrell, Jean-Baptiste and Golson in the slot. It would be nice not needing to spend a high pick on CB since we have other needs to address.

This guys is def a cover 2 guy or a safety. My guess is we will sign him to a futures contract.

The guy's only skill is he is tall, and slow..........and doesn't tackle. Sounds great. A little late to be trying to upgrade CB unit when we don't even use the better players we already have. Brilliant, Tomlin.

Oh wait, a former LIONS player. That explains it. Apparently the Lions are the only team that has/had players we want.

Getting a jump start on camp depth for next year.

And there you have it, we have enough 3rd string DB's right now thank you but we'll file your # away just in case.

Pretty sure Tomlin is preparing for Broncos. So, that would mean that our GM is doing what a GM does in regards to bringing in players to look at. But hey, if it floats your boat to disregard how things usually work in the NFL, have at it ... Tomlin will still be here when you're done.

Pass.... no thanks... hes a bum

worth a shot

Xjx has never had a positive comment about the HC...

I dont know about you guys, but I want them to work out and/or evaluate every DB they can. Think of it as practice for the evaluators. In fact I want them to practice until they are perfect.
Welcome to the party. Very insightful post...

What would some say if they didn't bring a guy in and he turned out to be extrordinary????? They'd ***** just as loud.
