Kahn and Weidle

I think we should have tried to move down a few spots. There were still a few players with equal value left and we still might have got the same guy. I don't really know anything about the pick, but he seems to be more of a project and doesn't have a fully established position. We definitely need / needed to fix the oline. Im just not sure a hybrid project was the way to go. If we wanted a guard we could have snagged the Georgia guy. I don't think there was OT value where we picked.
They likely did. Hence the wait.

I was thinking of Matt Millen (Lions) twenty years ago and Dan Morgan (Carolina) drafting three WRs as the number one pick three years in a row for their respective teams. Maybe a bit of an over reaction on my part last night. Frustration with using so much capitol at a position where all three first round picks in four years take their turn at right tackle.

A positive is Fautanu is going to be a great offensive guard IMO and possibly better than anyone drafted at that position this season or the year he was drafted. Iffff he’s their LG.
Why is everyone talking about moving Fautanu to guard? He played LT in college, had excelled at RT thus far. This pick is all about Jones and his injury and not wanting to go into the season with Cook at LT. Looks like the report from Shefter was more than just smoke and Jones did indeed have a set back.

If Fautanu gets moved anywhere, it'll be over to LT, Max at RT, Anderson/Hoffman at LG. Moving your best tackle to guard is not how you improve your OL.

Yeah, it just doesn't make sense. I still could see them taking a guard between rounds 2-4.

Very well said, appreciate yaz.

I’ve coach many a many different sports teams over my life time. It was always common sense that you don’t fill a hole by making another hole.

Salute the nation

You’re making sense, I keep going back to Fautanu’s draft profile and how many said he would be an all pro guard if moved there. The Jones’ injury is more serious than expected and/or won’t be back next year anyway and Fautanu college LT experience is probably right.

In Slaine's Mike Tice video, Tice states that he would move Max to LT in Mini camp and keep him there.

Trading back a few spots is a novice's pipe dream, apparently you need a hated division rival to pull it off, and despite being picked to finish in last place, we WON the division last year. (Cleveland does not count, as they are more of a joke than rivals these days)

This is a second straight meat and potatoes draft. A lot of glue players and contributors if they pan out, no superstars. The X factor is Allar.
