Kenny Pickett Passing Chart

Tomorrow in the qb film room Mitch will " teach" Kenny. He will point out key details. Mason will add his incites. Canada will lead the meeting.

I don't feel better.

LOL....maybe Ben can come in between eating nachos and drinking beer on his podcast.

Yeah, the level of homerism from these rose colored glass Pitt fans is embarrassing. It was a pick your flavor for best QB in that draft with no clear consensus. Some said Corral, some said Howell, some said Ridder, some said Willis and some said Pickett. I was in the mindset that we let a FA like Mitch and Rudolph fight it out to start and let a later round pick sit and learn. I really don't see us in a worse position with Mitch or Rudolph starting over Kenny. At least not for the short term. I though a guy like Howell in the 4th would have been ideal. No pressure and low expectations. If he ends up not doing much you only wasted a 4th rounder. If Pickett is a bust we are set back 5 years.
this is spot on. I wanted a later round QB with the knowledge that if we stunk it up there were some possible studs coming out this year which we might have been able to snatch one.

I mean, this is Matt Canada;s employment history. Apparently known thinks he is worth keeping around. But the Steelers seem to like him more than just about anyone else in his employment history. Ugh.

Colbert had that gotta draft for need mentality. QB was a need. But it wasn’t a great QB draft. If Pickett was their guy he almost certainly there in round two and maybe even round 3. Teams had him off their board because of his hands. Not saying that’s a reason for the steelers to take him off but it does mean less teams were going to draft him.

It is what it is. I will cheer as loud as possible for him to keep getting better. Because like I said if he fails that holds us back 5 years.

This play sums up my issues with Pickett...this is the same thing he was doing last year. The Defense is in Cover 2, he NEVER looks off of Conner, even though his route runs him right into the 2 deep safeties. He has Robinson breaking open at 15 yards and instead he forces a ball into Conner for the INT. Canada is inept beyond belief, but a starting QB in the NFL has to be able to read a basic Cover 2 and know where he cannot throw the ball.

Kenny is not a starting QB they just drafted him like he was

This guy keeps on throwing bullshit out like it was fact. That idea he would have been available later is a high unknown. The teams took him off their board comment is a high unknown.

But by all means keep continuing to cooch your opinion out like it is fact.

I seriously doubt you will be cheering him on, you aren't the type. Doesn't fit your hate filled agenda.

Here's the passing chart. Same old ****. Short passes. Few over the middle. Lots of completions to guys standing still.

The thing about these crazy-*** outside passing plays is it take ALOT to make this sh*t work. i mean IF, if, if the Steelers had say Tyreek Hill & Drake London along with Pickens then i could see teams being kinda f*cked and walking their mike back 4-5 yards or flipping the mike to the far-side.

When the safeties have to hesitate and stay back for an extra second cause Hill or Pickens or London are real threats, then the area they just vacated is wide-*** open. Why? cause the D has to provide more help in the middle of the field in case of a run or a screen or the TE slips away.

And of course if that doesn't happen, you are F'd. The D just runs downhill all over your a*ss - it becomes the longest mile: straight up-hill to score a TD, seemingly 24 receptions later.

I have heard this song and dance since Bruce Arians. If you want to blame someone blame Tomlin and Art the piece of Deuce. Other than that it doesn't matter who was coaching when your QB is throwing 3 yards short and behind your wide open receiver. I don't care if Don coryell was the OC we aren't moving the chains with QB play like that.

i hear that. He played bad. I noticed KP8 started getting gun shy after taking too many hits. That is very concerning.
And how many championships did the Steelers bring home w/ Arians? with the Killer B's? with Wallace? with Heath? with Martavius? with Nate Washington?

never has an offense done so so little with so much talent for the last decade than the Steelers.

the problem is Canada. 100%.

why?

we have amateurs using amateur video making podcasts and tweets using this who are identifying the problem on a high school/college level. imagine what a professional sees pre-snap. Then imagine what Canada sees and doesn't see. Mainly doesn't see.

get rid of Canada, find a real OC. get Kenny a real QB coach to work with him on zone reads and progressions. Reap the benefits and have even better sound bites.

Damnit another poster making sense, the stick the pitchfork in Pickett crowd won't like this one bit.

I've been saying / wondering that for years.

You are that Moderator.!!!!

Aside from Tomlin hiring the guy, O'Canada is definitely the problem.

High-school senior / College freshman offense in a PROFESSIONAL NFL game.

they're the same ******* who ***** just to *****

THAT is an unGodly number of passes to flat on both sides. Unbelievable.

talk about an opportunity to run straight downhill on your a*ss.

Remember that Tomlin didn't fire Arians. Arians was getting Ben killed. The Rooneys saw it and had Bruce "retire". Tomlin would have let him stay forever.

Tomlin watches the film (I assume). He watched all of last year's film and the 10 different plays in the playbook and thought, Yeah, this is working. As a defensive coach specializing in DBs, he watched the film and thought, Whoa, how can you possibly defend all these hook routes? This is the scheme to develop a franchise QB and take us all the way.

I can see the future. Rooney fires Canada. Tomlin hires..........Hue Jackson

I was on the fire canada train after a couple games last season. Then after the bye the offense changed and things slowly started to work. After that I thought maybe Canada was starting to learn and adapt. I would not have been upset if he was fired, but i was also fine w/ giving him another shot. We started w/ a nice pass then the jet sweep just seemed to suck the air out of the team. 49ers are very good, but if its true about the coverages then that is sad they can not adjust. This falls on tomliln and canada. Ill count this game as a throw away...If the offense keeps going like this will be interesting if they fire canada mid season.

The whiners can cry all they want. The fact is Pickett will get the benefit of the doubt from the Rooneys before Canada. They will NOT give up on KP. The Steelers have shown patience time and time again, and Rooney won’t just give up his 2nd year QB. If the Steelers don’t right the ship, Canada will be gone…I just hope that leash has shortened. It’s probably too much hoping the Steelers make a change mid-season.
