The Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line used to be a top unit in the entire league, but that hasn’t necessarily been the case the last couple of years. However, they may be on their way to regaining that strong OL soon enough if they build around second year guard, Kevin Dotson.

The Steelers absolutely stole Dotson in last year’s NFL Draft as most linemen with his skill set have to be taken in the first couple of rounds, but Pittsburgh snagged him in the fourth round with the 135th overall selection. Dotson showed incredible strength in pass protection last season and was even the top player at his position in that category back in October. Dotson was even named to PFF’s All-Rookie offensive line for his outstanding season.

After losing several mainstays in the line this offseason, Dotson will get his chance to be a full-time starter and give the Steelers a sense of reliability which is a significant attribute while protecting a quarterback in the latter part of his career. It’s a great sign when a lineman at Dotson’s age is already showing signs of being elite and the only place for him to trend is upwards.

if they can get even an average OL group together this team has enough weapons to make a splash

Nice complimentary write up Jared and thanks.

Coolie, you are absolutely right. I'm hoping for a starting LT in the draft 1 . 24

also a starting center in 3rd.

If we can get BEN a couple more seconds of protection and the OC pans out even just 50% better than last years debacal, we have a strong team. Even with the "D" departures our "D" is still pretty stoudt and with the league being offensively dominant we could very well make that splash.

Right. I still hold fantasies that the O will be so special that Ben stays one more year.

The offense and their success or mediocrity will (in my humble and pretty much completely ignored opinion) will depend utterly on whether or not the offensive scheme changes and calls for more mid level passes.

If they continue with the 3 yard ****, the offense will once again be utterly craptastic.

Agreed. That's where my hope comes from. Canada has a history of being shifty, deceptive, and creative. Let's hope.

I don’t know he was on that ****** 2020 line too. So bad they had no push routinely failing on short yardage runs. Dude has got a lot to prove IMO

Dotson was the BRIGHT spot on that line.

We need to sign another tackle in free agency somehow and if we don’t pick up either Harris or Etienne in round 1, we won’t have a running game next year either....
