Kirk Cousins

Benched Wilson has worked out better than that career backup in Tennessee.

That career back up in Tennessee, is getting the starting nod this week. Titans wanted to make a change, but I donā€™t see Rudy being the savior as itā€™s more a ā€œchangeā€ to keep some happy.

Not going to look up stats because Iā€™m sure Rudyā€™s number will be career average, which is back up numbers.

His rating this season is the second lowest of his career. His INTs almost equal his TDs ( off by one)

As for QBs, Russ has indicated he wants to play here and the price will be right (affordable).

If we roll another 1/2 yrs with him, we best draft our future VERY soon. Having Russ to total age him would be a great advantage to the young man (ask Fields how helpful Russ has been).

I would not pursue Cousins in any scenario, it go time for what we have and need to get, but youth has to be involved.

Kirk Cousins? No, I don't like that. He's done. Soon it will be time for him to get on with his life's work.

Anyone here think the Browns will make a push for Fields this off season?

No. I believe the Steelers draft a QB in the '25 draft and sign Russ or Fields to a short term deal.

1. Omar didn't sign a #2 WR as he didn't want to spend significant money in order to leave room for a QB signing.
2. Why bring in another QB to learn the Smith system when you have two talented QBs who already know it?
3. What is it with you wanting the Steelers to bring in another team's benched players? good lort!
Yes, if Wilson prices himself out of Steelerland then the organization will turn their guns toward Justin Fields.
See this is why I hate this ******* archaic Steeler self imposed rule of not regotiating during the season. Modify your own silly rule to negotiate with players in the last year of their contracts that you wish to keep. Just because granddaddy and daddy did this way doesnā€™t mean it fits the current structure of the NFL. When this Steeler rule was adopted there was no free agency. Hello Art, wake up McFly!

I would lean toward no at this point. It would really depend on the price of the other options.

Someone has to ask the question. If we canā€™t resign Russ reasonable and the falcons trade or release Cousins and pay him like Denver did Russ, are we interested?

I heard on some sports talk show some time ago that Kirk Cousins was not a big game QBā€¦he always loses them. So probably not.
Unless if winning seasons is all that matters.

(Iā€™m pretty sure it was Cousins they were talking about)

I sure hope they do, just after we resign him. Then they give us a 1st round pick, unless we can get the original Coach back and have him negotiate. Coach could secure 2 1st round picks after the trade deadline.

And one hair follicle said red nose was a starter that just needed an opportunity, to a low end starter, to quality backup.

I figured I would sprinkle in some truth to help offset all the made up mambo chahambo.

He was ornery yesterday, must have been out of Rocky Road and had to settle for vanilla

No one had to ask that question.

Unlikely Cousins will be available on a similar deal to Wilson. Anyone who trades for Cousins will take on his $27.5 million guaranteed salary and $10m roster bonus, so a trade isn't going to get a Wilson type cap hit for the trading team.

As far as Falcons cutting Cousins like Broncos did Wilson, didn't Russ have a large amount become guaranteed (either his 2025 salary or a big roster bonus) if he was on the Broncos roster at the beginning of the 2024 football year? Kirk Cousins 2025 his base salary is fully guaranteed already, so if he's still a Falcon in 2025 the only amount he gets that isn't already guaranteed is his 2026 $10 million roster bonus which becomes guaranteed in 2025. If cutting Cousins only saves $10 million I'm keeping Cousins as the backup unless he's completely done.

Sorry boys, no thank you to Kirk Cousins. I think heā€™s just another overpriced, overrated aging QB.
The writing in Steelerland is on the wall written in black n gold. Russell Wilson is the target and will be signed imo to a three year deal. Iā€™m sure it will be a deal where they can get out of it if Russ hits a wall.
Justin will most likely be gone since teams desperate will throw money his way.
I think we sign someone in FA as a backup but wonā€™t be a splashy signing. I think theyā€™re putting all their eggs in the Russ basket.
