Leave Troy and Ike on the bench?

Ike is a no brainer. He hasn't played and when he has it hasn't been good. Troy is another story. If he can go full (and I'm talking as close to 100% as this time of the year allows), then I look him in the eye. I'd say, Troy, we have been through the wars, can you give me more than Will right now. I'd trust his judgement. If he said yes, I'd say ok. But if I say code word x, you will suddenly aggravate that injury and you are coming out. Troy Polamalu deserves the benefit of the doubt in terms of his own judgement of his own play. You send him to the bench if he can go full and you could have a problem on your hands.

I say play them both. Just give Ike less responsibility. No need for him to be following the top receiver anymore. Id rather have Ike out there then Webb

you don't change what is working

I concur - I knew we'd win when I heard they weren't playing

I'm torn about Troy, but it seems we just need guys doing their jobs back there - safties playing safety - not exotic schemes and jumping around at the line and whiffing tackles and blowing coverages left and right trying to hero

It's so obvious, Ike and Troy barely have LB speed these days - I want DB's than can actually RUN down the field and keep up with WR's

more young fresh legs, please

I will freaking slap someone if they stick to the old guys because they are in the boys club. If Tomlin and Dick are this stubborn and stupid I will freak out. FINALLY, we are getting good play out of young guys, why mess with what is working? Ike is rated as the worst CB in the entire NFL.

I would rotate Allen and Troy. Ike can play in the dime.

I love Troy

but so many times I was like where is he?

I didn't think that about Allen, he stayed active. Not perfect but effective.

Add in Troy's lack of speed with his spotty tackling and it is a recipe for fail.

Right now this team is reminding me of that Saints team that won it all with DBs playing as a team and making timely interceptions.

I think you almost have to go with what is working.............

Troy can still play the run very well, almost like a MLB. Allen is better in coverage.

Troy can still be very effective in stopping the Rats running game.

Like yes, Troy no, although if Ike can dress I dress him in case of an injury.

I think Ike at this point is just done. You play the main three corners. And put him in the slot if injury.............

the plot thickens

Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor each a full go in practice

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Ike Taylor were full participants in practice Wednesday, adding intrigue to what the team will do with the veteran defensive backs Saturday night

Polamalu (knee) has missed the last two games and Taylor (forearm and shoulder) hasn't played since the Steelers' 42-21 win Dec. 7 at Cincinnati

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not commit to Polamalu, an eight-time Pro Bowler, regaining his starting job when he is healthy enough to play. Will Allen has started the last two games at strong safety while Brice McCain has been playing in place of Taylor with Antwon Blake serving as the nickel back.

The Steelers are in decent shape from an injury standpoint aside from the hyperextended knee that kept running back Le'Veon Bell out of practice Wednesday. Bell said he did light running and also rode a stationary bike and will try to do more Thursday.

Offensive tackle Mike Adams did not practice because of an illness while nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) and tight end Michael Palmer (groin) were limited in drills.

I love Troy, but he hasn't made a game changing play all year....Very few in the last 3 years actually.

Stay with what we have now.....We are faster to be sure. Hell, I hated Willie Gay his first go around with the Steelers & he rocks now....It's all about production

I would look at match ups and people we have right now. I would ask who do Troy and Ike upgrade. If they are better than any two players we have then they play and the other players sit, if on the other hand they are not able to be an improvement both physically and schematically with what is needed to be done then they sit.

The Falcons threw for 302 yards against us, Troy was awful in the passing game.

My take: play Troy situationally. Short yardage and in the redzone he is still effective. To not dress him is sort sighted unless he is taking a hat from one of our best special teams players.
