Like a said a year ago it's time to Peyton Manning Ben

Say the Steelers finish 5-11 and a franchise type QB is available with their 1st pick... Too soon to draft a replacement?

5-11 wont get you the number 1 pick...theres a couple teams ahead of most 5-11 teams every year that will nab a (cant miss) #1 franchise type QB......

We had this Kid Hoyer in our camp a couple seasons ago............look at him now....6-2 in his last 8 starts. He outplayed Ben BOTH games this season. And hes rising.

Though I've never even considered it in the past, I'm beginning to look at Ben as a big part of the problem. We have the same problem under Haley that we did under BA. Move the ball between the 20s, but can't put it in the end zone. Is it really the coordinators that we've had or is Ben just a bad decision maker in the red zone? We already know he has a habit of taking sacks in FG range.

Ben has also always displayed a desire to hit WIDE open receivers. That's much easier to do between the 20s when he can buy time and wait for someone to create separation. Inside the red zone, with the defense has less space to cover, it's hard for receivers to get lost in space.

I'm not calling for Ben's head. This team has too many problems to lay it all on Ben, but it is a piece of the puzzle.

Its that extra time he "needs" that causes him to take sacks that back us up and knocks us out of FG range. DC's have figured this out and he hasnt adapted. Hes the only QB i know that if given ample time, will "pump fake" twice on a pass attempt well within the red zone.

If you really wanted to "Peyton Manning" Ben you'd get him a couple fast 6'5" WR/TE's that can catch the ******* ball in the EZ.

TRUE this^^^

If Ben needs help in the RZ, it would mean throwing a corner fade to someone who is over 6' and 200#. Bryant might not know the whole route tree BUT w both Brown's and Bryant 3-wide inside the 20, we might have better luck being able to use 'inside slants or outside fades' to a few guys who can "fight" for a ball.

Draft picks don't do you any good when your head coach is Mike Tomlin. Just ride out the Ben years and hope Tomlin is gone by the time he is ready to hang it up

They have a speedy tall WR, they just deactivate him and haven't maximized the talent from what is brought in.

Now you can blame the GM for drafting ******,

the coach for not developing talent

or spread the wealth

But getting rid of proven talent and replacing it with talent from the fail brothers, has about as much of a chance of success than having a Aids and Ebola cocktail and surviving it.

I might be bat **** crazy and monkeying around but lets do things that bring results.

INSERT NEW STAFF FROM THE TOP DOWN

They can tradeBen. They already have their qb of the future, Landry Jones, so they are all set.

They must think Landry is the QB of the future or else why draft him while Ben still had at least 5 years left?. The alternative would be that they thought he roster was so packed with talent that they could use a high pick on a luxury pick of a backup QB.

Not at all. Tom Brady was drafted in 2000 when the Patriots still had Drew Bledsoe, who was an all-pro and helped beat us in the 2001 AFC Championship game. Green Bay had Don Majkowski on the roster when they signed Brett Favre and had Brett Favre on the roster when they selected Aaron Rodgers. It's never too early to sign a solid QB when one is there for drafting - assuming, of course, that you have someone on staff who is a reasonably good judge of talent. On that last point, it's probably best for the Steelers to trade draft picks for proven players.

We are 25th in the NFL scoring 20.4 points a game against the easiest schedule and worst defenses int he league. Ben has never been good at scoring points and is harly irrepaceable in todays NFL when unknowns like Austin Davis come in and have higher QB ratings than Ben and prosper from the start in todays pass friendly NFL>

Ben and Aaron Rodgers were drafted in the 1st round by teams with records that were better than 5-11.

Yes. I would add though that those were years where the QB class was deep. But it is possible to land one if we're drafting somewhere in the top 15 with 3 franchise QB's available like in 2004. But those type of drafts are rare.

Not at all. Ben may only have 3 to 5 good years in him. My guess is he will be on the low end of that scale but still hope he can play 5 more good years. If it were 3, the drafted QB would slide right in.

Interesting fact to keep in mind. No QB in their 30s has won a Super Bowl since Brad Johnson in 2001,

The Genius that is the Steelers front office thinks that Ben's replacement is already on the team.

Who the **** is running these drafts?

Get Ben some tall fast WR's and blast out them 30+ points we're gonna need to even have a chance at making the playoffs in the next 2-3 yrs.

The defense is a hopeless quagmire, stop wasting picks trying to fix it.

Defense is overrated in the new NFL anyway....unless you have the Eagles on your fantasy team.........Amen

Go Peyton!
Go Ben!
Git er done

Right on cue Davis is shredding the 49ers defense, a better defense than any Ben has played and struggled against this year.

they can't seem to get that right either

**** it, trade Ben for 3 first rounders so we can get the first, second, and third best sack guys in the SEC. what could go wrong?

This team is in dyer need of talent. We need better players. Period. The best way is through the draft. High draft picks that is. Trade Ben(he's wasting his time here) aka Peyton manning for a **** load of draft picks. Go from there.

So, tell me what makes you think that our current coaching Draft Pick staff, would do with these picks? They have shown they can't evaluate talent to a consistent degree. Trade your HOF QB for picks that have a better chance of being wasted than successful. Great plan!!!

PS I'm pretty sure P.Manning wasn't traded

Salute the nation

How's that workin out for him, poindexter?

He scored more points against a much much better defense than Ben did and completed the same percentage of passes yet we paid Ben a million dollars for that ****** performance while Davis was paid $30,000, Seems it worked out better than Ben eh smart *** ?

Oh and Davis scores 24 points a game in his 4 starts while Ben averages 20.7, Davis beat the only common opponent , Tampa Bay, while of course Ben **** the bed against them. Davis has also played great against Dallas and Philadelphia, much better teams than Ben has lost to.
