Lolley’s 10 thoughts: Dupree becomes offseason priority No. 1

For me that is the weakest area of the team off-season decision making. Not identifying coaches that need replaced? Check. Not identifying what starting positions need tweaking? Foster says hi. Not identifying which free agents to bring in? Check more than balance. Not playing the starters enough in preseason?check. Not drafting enough of the right players or developing enough of the players they draft. One of the two check. For the bad in-season decisions people hark on the off-season has a plethora of bad decisions that handcuff every season in some way or fashion.
It made no sense that the Steelers didn't hire a QB coach when they drafted Rudolph. I still don't understand why they didn't give him the backup job last year either if they thought he could be the future. Dobbs wasn't that much better and sitting at third string held back his development. They did the same thing in training camp, not giving him No. 2 reps the entire time. I get them wanting him to "win" the job, but lets be real, it was his.

One has to wonder just how much effect Munch had on the offensive line. I mean they dropped off a CLIFF!

It's very apparent. And it's also apparent Munch taught the Centers how to snap the football, because this season was a clusterfuck.

Yep, this really all goes back to poor coaching/personnel decisions IMO.

They looked like a team that checked out yesterday.

I think it's more a team thinking too highly of themselves and reading too many press clippings. And it all starts with the Head Coach, again. You notice how when there's absolutely no expectations for the team, they seem to do well enough and at least grind out wins? Then I hear about how Tomlin's telling the team they're "Apex Predators" and blah ******* blah, and then they proceed to go on a 3 game losing streak with uninspired performances.

And it seems to happen over and over and over again. Turn the page, Rooney.

Not sure if it was the same play, but I watched Snell go into the pile and normally you see the offensive line go in there and push from behind and Big Al was just standing watching. They looked like a team that checked out yesterday.

Munchak earned his respect with a HOF career and developing into an elite position coach. Sarrett may have learned under Munchak, but I didn't see him as the same type of coach. He wasn't the teacher Munchak was during camp. Instead, spent a good bit of time yelling (probably trying to establish himself as he's still relatively young). The assistant OL coach was also worthless during camp. No instruction, just an equipment guy.

The offense was overwhelmed this year. They didn't score more than 1 TD in every game in how many consecutive games? This was a disaster for us offensively. Duck has very low pocket presence and we all know this is a practice squad guy who got cut prior to the season starting that we were relying on to get to the playoffs. The fairy tale ended and now we just need Ben back. The defense shined and I hope they can continue to play great football next year. The defense just gassed out yesterday. Time of possession kills defenses when they keep going on the field after the offense can't control the ball. We also saw this at SF where the offense failed to do anything and our defense got tired late.

Getting rid of the ball quickly is important for the QB. Duck held the ball too long and we paid for it. Gonna turn the page on this season and hope the FO can make the necessary roster adjustments to improve the offense and keep most of the defense together. Tagging Dupree is the #1 priority.

The average NFL salary is just shy of $4 million. Every NFL team would gladly pay $9.2 million for a 11.5 sack player.

Every NFL team doesn't have TJ Watt drawing double-teams on the other side.
