Looking at our core players, will the Steelers get another ring before Ben retires?

WHAT?

The offense is one if the best in the league. It's not going to get much better. For the Steelers to win another Super Bowl the defense needs to improve drastically.

What ?

What'd I say you don't agree with ? The OL can definitely get better and we don't have a back-up running back, but I agree that they can be a factor with what they have. The defense has a lack of stand out talent and a bunch of real question marks on the bench.....that needs addressed. If they could get some pressure up front, that 'D' could look a lot better than they do now. We have had weak corners before and they survived because of the 50+ sacks they tallied but 24 sacks at this stage of the season will expose even better DB's than we have.

I think two things have to happen before Ben can accomplish either of those goals.
First the OL has to keep progressing, one or two more adjustments might just do it.
Second and probably most important, Bell ( or someone just like him ) has to continue to produce. A solid running game has saved Ben before.

The receivers are already in place and we need to keep them youngin's on defense corralled but there's always hope.

I caught that as well. Playbook is a great show.

That was far from the first segment this season where they've highlighted deficiencies in the Steelers defense. In addition to what you alluded, they've also been biting on a ton of double moves in the secondary.

It's one thing to get beat due to lack of talent, which is obviously an issue, but they're rarely doing even the fundamental things rights, which reflects on the coaching.

Think that was Sharpe believe it or not.....I could be mistaken, but whoever it was nailed it. Even focused on Troy a might which is less a bag on him than on Mitchell for whom Troy is trying to cover. Mitchell seems lost.

Heck we could win it all this year. If Ben catches fire in the playoffs we can hang with any team. All we need is a couple of turnovers.....I know I'm dreaming, but it could happen.

Teams with weak Secondaries simply have to take more risks. say what you will about the talent level of Willie Gay, but since it became obvious that our secondary is a weakness he has jumped more routes than we have the past five years combined... it hasn't led to a lot of Ints our way or TDs their way, but QBs have thrown less his way and take an extra second when they do... , but you can only do that stuff if you are confident that the offense is going to be able to keep up if you get burned a time or two
