A Pittsburgh icon. He was the only Pirate to hit a HR in the first 6 games of the 1960 World Series. Buccos broke out the bats in game 7 with 3 bombs - Rocky Nelson, Hal Smith with the incredible 3-run HR to put the Pirates up 9-7 going into the top of the 9th, and then Maz's bomb to left-center to win the series.

I never watched him play but watched several interviews with him, Stan and Guy. Seemed like he was always at Spring Training when they'd go down there and do a few shows. He seemed like an honestly good guy. RIP Maz.
