McClendon's return ... Who sits?

Bryant had how many snaps before this week, you need to let guys play sometimes, McCullers has on a few occasions driven his man 2-3 yards into the backfield, I've seen McClendon do that once this year, maybe, and Thomas is usually going the other way.
I don't think we win or lose the game by dressing or not dressing McCullers, but just like Bryant we may find a player we weren't expecting much from this early and at a position of need.

Sit Archer. Guy played 3 snaps last week and it felt forced when he was in the game.

But using that same Bryant analogy, you have to ease the player into the position sometimes to be successful. I know everyone wants to think that Haley and Tomlin were just holding back a very capable WR- but it sounds as if he had to earn their trust and perform in practice. They weren't willing to throw him to the wolves before he was ready, "just to check him out". Now he has some confidence that can build upon. Now imagine if he started game 1 and started dropping balls left and right? Confidence and comfort is incredibly important and more so for rookies- and you dont get that by being forced in before youre ready.

I am okay with using this same strategy with McCullers. He is a 6th round pick and any contribution is an added plus. Just have to be patient and ease him to the role.

The snap counts are listed here: http://www.Invalid Link - Check SN Home Page/2014/10/steelers-vs-colts-player-snap-counts-week-8/

If Archer only saw 1 snap, it was the pass he dropped. Plus he was taken off of special teams. Personally, I want to see Archer succeed, but I think he needs a benching this week. If you drop the ball on the only pass thrown your way, plus you were taken off of the KR team, you need to sit out a game. Hopefully it will light a fire under him so he can start playing with purpose when he gets his chances.

Bryant was also injured to start the year off.

I agree bigappleyinzer, not saying we should start him or play him 85% of the time, but IMO he's shown enough in his limited action to keep getting a hat.

This is correct. He had a shoulder injury early on then missed time because of an illness. If not for these he would have been playing sooner.

2-3 yards a couple times this season? How about more like 10 yards pushback against the Texans.

Here's a 7 yard pushback against the Bills (wearing #74 before he switched to 62)

Preseason against the Giants....I don't see him going backwards, instead I see push and holding his line.

The NFL moved the kick offs up I believe so there would be fewer returns and, as a result, fewer injuries. But, if they want more scoring, which is obvious by how they have raped defenders from being able to do anything, then they should move the spot to the 30 or 35 like college did. I was shocked this year to see college kickoff touchbacks being put at the 35. That seems like a huge penalty for the kicking team but should allow for more scoring. I think it all sucks. They should have left the kickoffs the way they were.

Thanks for posting those clips, he also ran 10-15 yarddown field to make a tackle in one of those preseason games

McCullers can not be blocked one-on-one. It's impossible. He's just susceptible to movement, cut blocks and zone blocking and the coaches don't think he's ready.

I disagree. I saw him play the string-out game against Houston's zone blocking scheme very, very well. If he can do it against them, he can do it against anyone. I would keep him in the rotation at 10 snaps a game for a while. Take the snaps away from Cam Thomas.

He is doing rather well for a brand new guy. I wonder in one of the clips posted if he was supposed to take his man to the right instead of the left as it looked like a blitz had been dialed up to the left. Had he done that there might have been a sack involved instead of tieing up defenders and leaving an escape route for the qb. Now it might be that he just needs to learn a bit more about what is going on behind him so he fits in to the team concept a bit more.

While the team concept is vital Wingman, I'm really struggling to see what Thomas does to further the team concept. In his defense he has looked a little better inside, but hard to be worse than how he looked at DE

One of the problems I have against this coaching staff. Seems they think no young player is ready more often than not. Then throw others into the fire who had absolutely no playing time like Shazier.

I think Mc has earned more snaps as well...........

Not to be. McCullers is inactive. Stupid decision IMHO.

McCullers is inactive and Cam Thomas sucks. The D looks bad already.
