McDermott gone ... supposedly

Allen can also be really bad. He can throw 2 or 3 ints and 4 TDs in the same game. I'm not sure if it is really a coaching issue there or not. Bottom line is they were not getting it done and was time for a change
Remind you of anyone? The first time I saw him,I told my son,he’s just like Big Ben but a faster runner.

If Tomlin wants back into coaching then he has to tell his agent to go after the Buffalo job. He could become the luckiest coach in history by inheriting 2 teams with a young franchise QB
His recent playoff record is worse than McDermott’s. I don’t see how Bills’ ownership would figure that Shades is an improvement. Shades is basically McDermott with better taste in sunglasses.

I would think having a MVP QB like Josh or Lamar would be rather attractive compared to Mason Rudolph and a 6th rounder that’s never played a snap in the NFL,wouldn’t you ? It could be years before we have an MVP caliber QB. Steelers are also the oldest team in the League.
I really don’t think we are as old as it feels. We have a nice young core on both lines. We have some young pieces in other spots as well. With 12 picks this year we can fill a lot of open positions with young options. Then we go find a QB if Howard is a true 6th round pick and not underdrafted like I hope.

Yet the fact remains we were the oldest team in the league.
Cams age tips the scale a bit. lol. And Rodgers. We were the second oldest team by starter. Interestingly neither the defense or the offense was in the top 5 oldest. Not sure how that works. If you subtract Cam and AAron it changes quite a bit.

Does this make their OC Brady available?

The one thing Pittsburgh has is a track record of sticking with its coaches. I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to think we are going to be a playoff contender next season. This is a rebuild from the ground up and a new coach can be part of that build knowing he’s not going to get canned in 3 years.
We know that because the last three coaches have been pretty darn successful. Not many, if any of us, know how they’ll act if they hire a dud that has the Steelers looking like the Jets for 2-3 years. We assume they’ll hang in there for a bit, but fact is the Steelers were loyal to successful coaches.

Another thing, I’m not sure Rooney thinks it’s a rebuild. Some of the guys he’s interviewing suggests he thinks the roster is in place to win a championship. I’d say if he hires McCarthy or Flores, he thinks he can win now. If he goes with a young first time coach, then it’s a rebuild.

Buffalo fans should be livid that they doubled down on keeping the guy who is holding the team down

When you have 3 players above 35, it brings your average up quite a bit, especially when one is 42.

27.3 is our average age WITH Rodgers, and we were second to Washington. Take Rodgers (42) and Thielen (35), and your two oldest players are Cam(36) and Boswell (34), after that no one older than 32. Slay being gone helps too... We're not that old, but we do have holes

What makes Buffalo or Baltimore more attractive???

Both have aging QBs, who haven't delivered when it matters.

Both have RB1s with worn tires.

Both have owners who have far less patience than the Rooney's.

Yeah. That's attractive...

Come on man. you can't honestly believe that?
Cook had 10 100yd games and a 200 yd game 12 td's and averaged 5.2 ypc
1912 scrimmage yds.
Derrick henry is old but he still ended up the #2 rusher behind cook.

Josh Allen is the best qb out of all the teams in need. By a country mile.

I have no idea why you or Lebanon want to argue because I simply said we are the oldest in the league. It’s simply a fact.

So..now you simply want to take away the starting QB….arguably one of the top 3 defensive players in Cam and one of the best specialists in the league ( Chris) all starting players in the last game to say that hey. We weren’t the oldest team. News Flash. They did play. Which made them an old team in 2025. Just like I said.

Of course I know next years roster can be purged. 🍻

We still weren't the oldest team. Washington was and by a quite bit more. WE are arguing because overall we are not that old it was heavily weighted by just a few guys, two of which definitely won't be back. I am arguing because I don't think it is the problem you may think it is. Yes it hurt us some this year at QB and that really is about it. Cam held up very well.

That's the problem, our best players were 30+: Cam, TJ, ARod, Ramsey, Boz, Seumalo.

Highsmith and Metcalf are 28.

We have some promising young guys but none are bonafide stars yet.

You need some vets to lead the younglings. Isaac needs replaced. Ramsey is needed until we have some young safeties ready. Cam won't be here much longer. Boz may not be either. Metcalf needs to be the second option not the first.
Besides QB we need a guard, Safety, 2 good WR's, depth at tackle, another good DL and a CB. WE have 12 picks and free agency to do it. QB will be the hardest and biggest crap shoot.

Chris Shula’s price tag just went up again.
I don’t like this. Buffalo is a better job and if there’s a bidding war we’ll come out on the losing end.
Please tell me we're not gonna wind up with Flores or McCarthy when the dust settles after all these years of Purgatory with Shades.

The Bills are getting into dangerous territory with Allen getting older. McDermott is a good coach that could've been a Cowher with a late-career Super Bowl or Marty who never got there. I credit the Bills for making a bold move after failing again. However, I completely agree with Tape. The GM needed to go.

I know it's counter to everything that's been said on this board...Buffalo's owner should write the blank check college boosters couldn't for Tomlin. He has an offense already in place with a stud QB. There won't be another opportunity like this again. I would assume Buffalo has a guy in mind after making this move.

I'm not taking Cam or Boz away, but Rodgers and Thielen ARE gone. We have A LOT of young guys too, it was a balanced roster that by average age was the second oldest team...

I simply pointed out that a couple REALLY old guys skewed the numbers a little bit.

Don't lose sight that BEN was pretty fast in his younger days too.!

Salute the nation

In one SB against you know who. Flores was not with the same type of organizations as McCarthy either.
At one time Miami had a pretty good season. Are they not considered a solid organization anymore?

I don’t glue into them so I really have no strong opinion on the franchise..

I don't think I could put Miami in the same boat as the Jets but not the Packers and Cryboys either. Id say Miami is amoung the Dipshits. With the Steelers of the last 7 or 8 years as the King of the Dipshits.
