Mike Wagner

We're all getting old.

It’s to blurry to read. When expanding the phot, the small print becomes to distorted.

Did he pass away?

Salute the n ation

Saw this earlier today....guy was a borderline HoFamer and probably would have gone in if it wasn't for Steeler Bias in the HoFame. Same thing that's keeping Hollywood Bags out. He was one of the most underrated Safeties in NFL History but Wagner was incredible back there. Along with Donnie Shell, JT THomas, Glen Edwards and Mel Blount. If my memory serves me correctly Wagner was a WR in college who made the switch to Defense. So many great Steelers players from the 1970's still waiting to get into the HoFame. Wagner is one of those guys who should have gotten in long ago. RIP Mike you will be missed by Steeler Nation!

R.I.P.

Mike Wagner was one of my favorite players from that era. He just seemed to always be making plays. Remember that stretch of time a while ago when the Steelers had so few interceptions as a team? It lasted a few years, if I recall. I thought a lot about Mike Wagner then, wishing they could find another guy like him.
I'm not really a jersey guy, but a number of years ago I got a Lambert throwback. As much as Lambert was the man, I tried to get a #23 first.

Wow. Feeling really old right now. I watched a ton of games where Wagner played a big role in the Steelers' victory. He tormented Kenny Stabler and the Raiders in that freezing, ice-covered AFC Championship game in 1975.

He was the prototype ss in the cover 2 defense first with Glen then with Donnie he helped provide the Steelers with the best safety tandem for a decade! He could drop in the box give the steel curtain it’s preverbal “forth linebacker” he could ball hawk picking off passes when you lease expected it. you could not run on that defense you could not pass against that defense wags one of the biggest reasons! Bear defense was a gimmick that was great for a year or 2 steel curtain came at you straight up and kicked ur *** for over a decade! The likes of that defense we’ll never seen again

Great player for the Steeler’s defense back in the 70’s.
R.I.P. Mike Wagner. It was cool watching you play back in the day.

Always like the less heralded player who shows up every game and is always good and sometimes great. Backbone of a great team. RiP
