I never understood McCarthy as a 1st rounder. He has a good arm but he barely threw it at Michigan, and when he did, it was with no pressure and throwing to a wide open guy because of play action.

They let Darnold leave to go with McCarthy. Darnold was great last year with them and probably would have gotten better in that system.

He's made a bunch of bad throws. He only has one INT. Still, he's a rookie, so mistakes will be there, unless you're Big Ben.

He’s thrown 15 passes with 9 completions and at least two drops. He’s thrown some good passes too. The one he threw at end of the 1st half was a really good throw.

I'm still trying to figure out how JJ McCarthy not only went in the first round, but 10th overall. That was a worse evaluation than the Steelers had with Kenny Pickett.
