Has twitter all ablaze. Those players include Zach Mettenberger, Anthony Johnson, Telvin Smith, Christian Jones, Seantrel Henderson, and Timmy Jernigan.

Again, it is not some pop quiz fellas, they give the drug test every year. QUIT SMOKING IT BEFORE THE COMBINE.

Morons.

They may be morons, but a lot of that is entitlement.

They just don't care.

QB Zach Mettenberger? Wow, did not expect that. Univ.of Georgia fans are going to clown and trash talk any LSU fans about this news nugget.

I am wondering if some of these tests are flawed. The reason I state that is the urine test is the least accurate test for many controlled substances where as the blood test is the most accurate. I understand cases of false positives are not normal but neither are they unheard of either. It may be just fine when testing for cannabis and have problems with other substances just can't remember. I know of the three blood, breath or urine there were many problems with urine years ago.

I just thought of something else. How many of these guys either lived in or went to school in a state where they passed the medical marijuana thing.

What layers do you want to hold accountable?

well there is the epidermal, dermal, and subcutaneous layers. I want to hold at least one accountable, that's the skinny of it.

I was going to hold the Cambrian and Pre-Cambrian layers accountable.

I would think the legalization is irrelevant of your employer forbids it.

That really does not matter. If I go in for a job interview and they ask that their employees do not drink or do drugs and the drug test shows I do drugs and was drunk last night, the law does not matter. There are plenty of companies that have rules against actions that are allowed.

Just stop testing for pot. It's not like it's a performance-enhancing drug. That's the important thing for these guys. If there's no sensational news about this or that player getting busted for smoking weed, it's also not a problem in term of the example the players are setting for kids. Yeah, it's illegal, but clearly they're doing it anyway, so either learn to live with it or take a hard line and start with mandatory testing every week and a steeply escalating schedule of fines and suspensions.

Murder is illegal but they are doing it anyway. Learn to live with it

All were positive for pot?

Many of them fail not because they tested positive, but because they turned in a heavily-diluted urine sample. Pretty transparent attempt to pass a test; they think if it doesn't show up positive for weed, they just beat the system. Not the case; a sample too diluted gets flagged and reported as a fail. Mettenberger's physical therapist claimed it was because he was drinking a gallon of water a day to fight dehydration. Right.

This won't hurt Henderson or Jernigan at all. Jernigan because he's good enough that nobody will care, and Henderson because his idiocy is already factored into his late round grade. He'd be a first rounder if his head was on straight.

Beyond stupid. If I was lining up for a payday like the one they're about to earn, I'd be damn terrified to even LOOK at a picture of pot, let alone smoke it! And this is coming from a guy who enjoys some quality reefer from time to time!!

This happens every year. Doubt this hurts any of their draft stock.

mettzinburgers was a diluted sample. He says it was from over hydrating on his doctors instructions . . .

I agree with both you and TMC on this but was just curious if these college educated individuals may have thought that since it was ok in their state it was ok and would not effect them. Not a smart move under any circumstances. Why not weekly testing all through college and in the pros positive and you are out. It would knock out a large portion of the knuckle heads and ultimately improve colleges and the game.

We won't know for a while what the results were scored for (diluted sample for Mett and Jernigan, pot for Henderson). The others will soon be known whether it was for a diluted sample (water or carotene), illegal substances, PEDs or the like. All teams will have access to the information prior to draft time and probably have known for some time of the 'initial' results is my estimation.

Remember last year Keenan Allen was 'reported' to have been 'red-flagged' with a diluted drug test at the combine which his agent vehemently denied? Supposedly, he was called back to give another sample but his agent said it never happened.

Maybe somebody is evidence/news tampering to get a better prospect at a later pick? These douchbags like Glazer always wait until a few days before the draft before "leaking" this information about prospects failing tests. maybe we will get the next Justin Houston (who Glazer also reported in 2011, 2 days prior to the draft)?
