Bell and Harrison weeded themselves in the past two years, but they got away with murder before they left and caused all kinds of division. But guys like Munch and Burnett don't care when it's time to leave town because it's no longer the type of place where players are dying to get to.

Who knows the ripple down effect going on. Do you remember 4 or 5 players huddled around AB during his FB live fiasco? Ben asks AB to stop and is ignored by all of them. The team needs a cleansing. Would be nice if they started with Tomlin.

Tomlin isn't going anywhere, so what players are you getting rid of?

He was position flexible and known to be able to call coverage. He was a declining injury prone S who didn't stay on the field long enough to steal a spot early. And later Edmunds showed improvement. Which at least has him going in the right direction.

Neither was going to be a godsend. 1 a little raw, the other declining and injury prone. You can thank Tombert for not bringing in a better option.

But obviously they thought Edmunds was showing better at SS than Burnett when he finally worked his way back.

Perhaps if his health wouldn't have roadblocked him it turns out differently for Burnett. But that was simply a extension of what he was showing in GB.

If I am thinking player A is better than player B, that doesn't automatically have to mean I am happy with either.

As I wasn't. But according to some breakdowns I saw he was improving.

Obviously you think he didn't, but I think he will improve off a difficult first NFL season.

Not like it doesn't take a player 3 years at times for the light to come on. And again Burnett wasn't healthy enough to capture the job.

What does being position-flexible in the secondary have to do with being forced to play linebacker?

Injury-prone? Burnett started at least 11 games for the Packers in every season following his rookie year, including 15 games in two out of the last 4.

Evidently the Steelers didn't think he was declining and prone to injury when they handed him a 3-year, 14.35 million dollar deal with a $4.25 million signing bonus.

I can thank Tomlin for playing the guy out of position when he did get healthy.

I don't think he would have made the team next year anyway. They knew they were drafting a Safety high. They had Davis learning a new safety position. A veteran safety was a need. They probably did not plan on starting their rookie Safety.

Burnett got hurt and Edmunds was forced into action. By the time Burnett could play, Edmunds already had a bunch of starts. He was making mistakes but also getting better. He wasn't killing the defense. There was no reason to go back to Burnett.

At this point, this is like Heyward Bey saying he wants out.

If they were only looking for a veteran for a one-year stop-gap, why would they sign Burnett for three years and give him a sizable signing bonus?

Based on the fact you used to half to rip the black and gold jersey off people like Polamalu, Heath, Farrior, Bettis, Hines, Kirkland, Keisel. The only one in the Cowher and early Tomlin era who asked out that I can think of is Faneca.

Now we have players looking to leave left and right: Foster, Bell, Blount, Burnett, Brown

This all started imo when Blount forced his way out and won a ring with the P*ts. There is a rodemap for players who don't like Tomlin's culture and now Brown and Bell have given a rodemap for how to be selfish and take advantage of Tomlin's culture.

This is a circus, the Bengals east, and cool shades is at the core of it

Unless I've missed it. he's still on the roster. I doubt they just release him, because he wants released. I'm sure they will try and trade him during the draft, for like a 5,6 or 7th round pick. but if no takers. he'll be in training camp come July.

Not sure of his cap implications but if he can't be of use in training camp (beat out) then he will get cut.
