Anyone surprised that Rooney did not show up on the sidelines after the game.

I read somewhere that Rooney did greet Ben after the game. I'm not sure if it was on the field or not.
Yeah non story.Maybe Artie didn’t want to steal the limelight from Ben and wanted it to be just about Ben. Idk, but that is a possibility! I can’t believe he would want to slight Ben in any way or disrespect him. Nah, he was just letting it be about Ben and his family imo.

Easy for fans to draw conclusions, negative ones at that. For all we know they met after the game in private and pre-arranged as to maybe that's what BEN wanted.
Art 2 is not grandpa or dad but he keeps this organization competative. He is lacking in football acuem and could use a littler help in football decisions but make no mistake he KNOWS what is going on with his team and business.
As fans we ONLY see the public side and there is a non-public side. I own my buisness and I've had employees tell me how I should run it but those employees have no clue to the finacial / decision reasoning / long term / etc. and that would apply to the fans public as well.
I defend Art 2 to a degree because we don't know whats going on behind the scenes and most don't realize that Art 2 has been running this team long before Dan passed away. He doen't get a pass but he also deserves reasonable speculation on his decision making process.

I can respect what your saying about your business and there is a lot of truth to that. However an NFL business is not like any other business. Unless of course you can tell me and prove to me that your business can be one of the most profitable businesses around while running your business into the ground. Even the worst NFL team is more profitable than just about any other business. It's a truly one of a kind business. A business where no matter how terrible you do your still making a crap ton of profit and honestly can leave it on auto suck pilot and still make money hand over fist.Easy for fans to draw conclusions, negative ones at that. That is how I viewed things. Postgame was about Ben soaking in the moment and it was absolutely perfect.Maybe Artie didn’t want to steal the limelight from Ben and wanted it to be just about Ben. Idk, but that is a possibility! I can’t believe he would want to slight Ben in any way or disrespect him. Nah, he was just letting it be about Ben and his family imo.
I agree. The nfl and the Steelers are a cash cow at the end of the day. It’s entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less.In the book "Three Bricks Shy of a Load," Bradshaw eludes to the fact that fans take things so personal, like he throws interceptions just to spite them. That's what this is like. Stop taking it so damn personal. They aren't out there with the sole purpose of pissing some of you off.
Bradshaw said sometimes he wishes he could go out there, run around and just throw interceptions and be laughing it up on the sideline and shove it some of the fans faces. Part of me wishes Art would come out and say, "Yeah, all we want is your money, we don't give a **** about winning." Or Tomlin would say "I ordered everyone to fumble and **** just to piss you fans off." Might as well as much as some of you make up ****.
Thank you exactly what i was going to say.I just shake my head at the stupidity I read on here sometimes. Look at that picture of Dan and Joe. It was at a special organized halftime ceremony! Think, people! It wasn't some really organic, fluid thing at the end of a game like what you saw on Monday night.
Yeah, like the FO did so wonderfully when all those '70s greats began to retire.Diver, you are probably correct.
The Steeler FO did a great job with the retirement of Hines and Troy too.
We do live in that age where everything is celebrated and acknowledged. That participation trophy culture.Yeah, like the FO did so wonderfully when all those '70s greats began to retire.
Or somewhere along the line did we all just become big emotional ******* and now everyone needs a ceremony or they weren't appreciated.
This. It happened around the time they started handing out participation trophies and ribbons. When they made kids who were faster or more skilled start "playing up" a level so that the other kids didn't feel inferior.Yeah, like the FO did so wonderfully when all those '70s greats began to retire.

Oh, snap!!![]()
Is Ben Roethlisberger retiring? Steelers owner Art Rooney makes bold announcement
Monday night was an emotional ride at Heinz Field as Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made his last start at home.www.sportskeeda.com
Oh for God’s sake, some folks just throw crap without even thinking it out..He was there, in Ben’s family Skybox and was on the field to Shake hands/hug him right when he got to the sidelines (see photo)
Art2 has been participating with the team since he was a little kid. He was a ball boy during training camp since he was 10 until he started college. I’ve met both Mr. Rooney and Art2, both were/are definitely family men and decent. No doubt Art2 is more business oriented than his dad was, and Dan was definitely more involved with league matters since he was there since before the merger.
We all have opinions, but we should have some modicum of common sense shouldn’t we?
