Mr Rooney-----Ben

Not surprised one bit.

Art 2 is not his father or grandfather. Not even close. He did not build this team or company. He inherited it and just my personal opinion (i could be wrong) but he has barely a fraction of interest in this team other than the income it provides to him. He does not have anywhere close to the pride his family had in this team. The issue is to many fans think because his last name is Rooney that he is going to carry the team organization the same way. He's not. Those days went bye bye when his father stepped down and ultimately passed away.

As long as the season tickets get sold, ***** are in the seats, Steeler gear keeps selling, NFL money TV money keeps pouring in, Artie couldn’t care less.
Artie is a businessman first and foremost. Yes, I certainly do think he wants to win but keeping it in perspective, making money is numero uno with Artie. Not nearly the passion of grandpa and dad. Not nearly!

Anyone surprised that Rooney did not show up on the sidelines after the game.

I read somewhere that Rooney did greet Ben after the game. I'm not sure if it was on the field or not.

I was just so focused on Ben I never gave it a thought....but now looking back Art should've met him on the field by the cameras during all the celebration. This speaks volumes.

This pic has been posted multiple times, but it speaks volumes as well. I hope Art finally wakes up.

Maybe Artie didn’t want to steal the limelight from Ben and wanted it to be just about Ben. Idk, but that is a possibility! I can’t believe he would want to slight Ben in any way or disrespect him. Nah, he was just letting it be about Ben and his family imo.

Yeah non story.
I clicked on this expecting some jersey retirement or something

Very possible for sure. If I was Art, I would've met him on the field immediately after the game and then left him alone.

Easy for fans to draw conclusions, negative ones at that. For all we know they met after the game in private and pre-arranged as to maybe that's what BEN wanted.

Art 2 is not grandpa or dad but he keeps this organization competative. He is lacking in football acuem and could use a littler help in football decisions but make no mistake he KNOWS what is going on with his team and business.

As fans we ONLY see the public side and there is a non-public side. I own my buisness and I've had employees tell me how I should run it but those employees have no clue to the finacial / decision reasoning / long term / etc. and that would apply to the fans public as well.

I defend Art 2 to a degree because we don't know whats going on behind the scenes and most don't realize that Art 2 has been running this team long before Dan passed away. He doen't get a pass but he also deserves reasonable speculation on his decision making process.

That's true DIC - A very good post. :)

I can respect what your saying about your business and there is a lot of truth to that. However an NFL business is not like any other business. Unless of course you can tell me and prove to me that your business can be one of the most profitable businesses around while running your business into the ground. Even the worst NFL team is more profitable than just about any other business. It's a truly one of a kind business. A business where no matter how terrible you do your still making a crap ton of profit and honestly can leave it on auto suck pilot and still make money hand over fist.

For this reason alone i would argue that Art 2 is not up to snuff. I see a man that ignores a lot of glaring signs. I absolutely believe that he probably knows the dollar and cents of it all. But all the drama that has happened with players, the ineptness of the coaching staff. The snafus with coches "retiring" only to go on and do well elsewhere. there's just a lot that to me says this man is more like Tomlin living off of the legacy that was handed to him while it slowly starts to go down the drain. He may be great at business for all we know. Hes terrible with football or just doesn't care much (dont know which or both). Tomlin is proof of this with his loss of leadership and control of the locker room. Vets speaking out against him and the staff says all we need to know.

Could i be wrong? Absolutely but looking at it from what we have seen of the Art 2 and Tomlin show i dont have alot of faith in the man.

There's also a huge difference of borrowing Dads car while he is still alive and sitting in the passenger seat and checking the oil still and keeping an eye on tune up as and the tires and all the important things compared to when Dad passes away and you have free reign of using his car without his eyes and help.

Cmon, what a load of drivel. I think closer to the truth is he didn't want anything taken away from Ben's moment. For crying out loud, at the end there it was just him going around the stadium. No teammates were out there, or coaches, his wife and family...just him and the fans. Is anyone going to speculate some devious intent because they didn't greet him out there? Just damn stupid.

I know we are all pissed because of the way things have been going and all, but some of the conclusions some you guys draw is just horseshit. Dan Rooney was great, but he oversaw some underachieving or just bad teams too as the owner. Those '85 through '88 years were stellar. How about '98 to '00. He didn't fire Tomlin after some disappointments in '11, or the years '12 and '13 for example, either.

I just shake my head at the stupidity I read on here sometimes. Look at that picture of Dan and Joe. It was at a special organized halftime ceremony! Think, people! It wasn't some really organic, fluid thing at the end of a game like what you saw on Monday night.

That is how I viewed things. Postgame was about Ben soaking in the moment and it was absolutely perfect.

In the book "Three Bricks Shy of a Load," Bradshaw eludes to the fact that fans take things so personal, like he throws interceptions just to spite them. That's what this is like. Stop taking it so damn personal. They aren't out there with the sole purpose of pissing some of you off.

Bradshaw said sometimes he wishes he could go out there, run around and just throw interceptions and be laughing it up on the sideline and shove it some of the fans faces. Part of me wishes Art would come out and say, "Yeah, all we want is your money, we don't give a **** about winning." Or Tomlin would say "I ordered everyone to fumble and **** just to piss you fans off." Might as well as much as some of you make up ****.

Diver, you are probably correct.
The Steeler FO did a great job with the retirement of Hines and Troy too.

I agree. The nfl and the Steelers are a cash cow at the end of the day. It’s entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lol. Glad I’m not the only one

Thank you exactly what i was going to say.

Yeah, like the FO did so wonderfully when all those '70s greats began to retire.

Or somewhere along the line did we all just become big emotional ******* and now everyone needs a ceremony or they weren't appreciated.

We do live in that age where everything is celebrated and acknowledged. That participation trophy culture.

*whelp. Time to duck out the thread. I think I left the oven on*

This. It happened around the time they started handing out participation trophies and ribbons. When they made kids who were faster or more skilled start "playing up" a level so that the other kids didn't feel inferior.

Oh for God’s sake, some folks just throw crap without even thinking it out..He was there, in Ben’s family Skybox and was on the field to Shake hands/hug him right when he got to the sidelines (see photo)

Art2 has been participating with the team since he was a little kid. He was a ball boy during training camp since he was 10 until he started college. I’ve met both Mr. Rooney and Art2, both were/are definitely family men and decent. No doubt Art2 is more business oriented than his dad was, and Dan was definitely more involved with league matters since he was there since before the merger.

We all have opinions, but we should have some modicum of common sense shouldn’t we?

Oh, snap!!
