Uh, you don't think that Davis may cheat a little more to one side if he knows Mitchell is out on an island? Cause he knows he's gonna have to get over there to help him? Lol.

I have offered 3rd party opinions on Davis. He's not even a top 60 NFL rated safety. Such reports get the Yinzer's angry. He's not very good in coverage, takes some really bad angles, and doesn't play smart. I do like him on the blitz, but that is a small part of his job.

In the draft, you are setup to take BPA at only a few positions of need.

1. Rashaan Evans ILB: Teamed with Williamson, they could be fantastic by year 2.
2. Marcus Allen FS: Because you brought in Boston, we are able to take a SS. Allen is like Sean Davis but attacks downhill and actually makes tackles. Would be a nice $backer as well.
3. Auden Tate WR: The combine will cause his stock to soar a bit, but it will settle down prior to the draft b/c of the lack of #'s at FSU. Of course, his deficient #'s were totally in part b/c Francois
went down. He's a 6'5" stud with the balls skills and the ability to attack the ball in the air.
5a. Jeff Holland OLB: Depth and hopeful diamond in the rough attacking the edge.
5b. Scott Quesenberry OG: Foster's last year and Hubbard is gone. Only Finney in the pipeline along with Hawkins.

Wrong. You have offered one THIRD PARTY OPINION. PFF. Presumably you subscribe to PFF (pro football focus) who have a proprietary evaluation system that is based not on actual metrics, but rather on what the “evaluators” feel is statistically important. It’s a trash mag and has been panned by various other evaluators and football writers. They are popular because they have a contract with a major network, and provide more interest/viewership marketing wise to the fantasy players.

Supes link is ESPN, which by contrast limits ranking based on raw statistics. True evaluators take into account the metrics of each play performed and catalog their evaluations. BTW, ESPN has him ranked as the #8 safety (FS/SS combined) in tackles (All).

Davis could play both FS or SS so take the best S available after securing an ILB in the draft

He can play both - sure. does he do it well? i would say no to both positions.
I'm tired of hearing about how well he should be...i'm waiting for the consistency.
Sean's angles to the ball are absolutely terrible. That's very difficult to change.
His tackling is pretty brutal at times as well. For someone that played CB his last year
in college, his coverage is pretty awful. I hear he has a pretty strong opinion of
himself. I want to see production on the field match his ego.

In today’s NFL, as a whole most defensive players have average to below average tackling techniques. Degradation of form tackling has been continuing since the early 2000. This is due to the several factors, primarily because it is a heavily offensive driven game. The league wanted points, so they enacted rules to increase the difficulty of defenses stopping offense. In last CBA, the union gave Goodell carte blanche in determining illegal hits. Players have no definitive idea where are the legal hitting zones. Therefore a change in tackling form. Plus the decrease in full contact practices has had a serious impact. There is none during minicamps, OTA’s and only one practice a day during training camp in pads. The fact this has dwindled down to the collegiate level only compounds the issue.

Now, in regards to Davis’s play.....he played CB due to the injury from the starter. He was a safety who the coaching staff asked him to play CB. He competed at it, and was noticed for it. “His coverage was pretty awful” and he has an strong opinion or ego....where is the link for these observations. He was asked to play CB, But he’s always been a safety. So naturally he isn’t going to have pure CB coverage ability. The kid speaks several languages and had a fantastic interview with a bunch of coaches at the combine. Was the model humble rookie his first year. Again where are the articles that’s he’s been a ego hound?

His production? Lead the team in tackles, had 3 picks, 8 or 9 PDs, numerous splash plays at the or behind the line of scrimmage. This was his second year. What else do you need to show besides his missed or poor angle to tackles. There were a lot of missed tackles by every starter, including TJ. Mind you Shazier had a ton of missed tackles, due to his speed no less, and he was DPOY candidate before his injury.
