Is his inability to put Najee in better positions in the pass game. He has always looked big time High To Low and he is just way too late in the progression by the time he gets to Harris. Then the backer on him is full rally to tackle as the ball is in the air. Similarly, he has never been a good screen QB.

Maybe Harris needs to do a better job of getting into space or running better routes?
Bell was able to average 8.5 yds per reception catching passes from Ben.
Harris 6.5 yards.
2 yards per reception is night and day.

You may have a beef...I have several herds of cattle when it comes to Ben and his game.

That was a far better O line...apples and oranges. It's a combo of everything: Ben's immobility+ bad at reading defenses ALL his career, bad O line, Najee not as good of a route runner as L Bell.

I don't think Ben is so bad at reading. On the contrary. I just think he is way too greedy on the High Low.

There has been a few times where you could clearly tell Ben wanted Najee to move away from the defender. But for the most part route running not a big difference and I'm watching and Harris has good timing the ball is just so ******* late.

They used him pretty well earlier in the season in the passing game and then got away from it. As Harris appears to have hit the rookie wall, his production in all areas has decreased and you see Ben going up to Harris on many of the incompletions. His field vision and feel for getting open isn't where it was early in the season.

That wall is real and doesn't play favorites. Naj is one tough, limber dude but you know he's got to be hurting just getting out of bed these days. He's taken a hell of a beating with limited breaks. Not sure why we consistently run the treads off our RBs year in and year out.

You might wanna count steamboats of Ben getting to Najee this afternoon.

I might have given Najee a well-deserved break today, when the score was 36-3 with under 10 minutes left. But I guess I don't have the football IQ of Mike Tomlin. Obviously.

This offensive design would never work its predicated on things that don't happen. And as much as I like Ben his skills don't match. Mahomes hit Williams along the sideline with a check it was 17 yards before he was touched. The Steelers ran PA and Ben was late throwing to Harris and he got 5. He just isn't seeing anything and at times there just isn't anything.

To me, I see Ben making every throw in the book effectively except a mid range out to the sideline. He cant carry the team any more, will make some crap throws, but has juice left for a Elway or Manning style 1-2 last years, surrounded by the right pieces and coaching.

Would not surprise me at all to see him playing well somewhere else next year and making Tomlin look REALLY stupid

Ben needs a line, receivers and a run game and a defense. If he can find a team with all that and no QB all the power to him. I agree if the Steelers had the pieces he could make them a contender. But a blind man could see they do not.

I have just one thing about Ben that bugs me. He telegraphs our running plays. As soon as he gets the ball he holds it 3 ft away from his body all the way to the handoff. Of course the fact that we seem to be empty backfield so much doesn't help disquise our runs. If there is someone back there they might as well just stack the box ever time.

Sounds like Cleveland is the place he needs to go.

The thing that bugs me about Ben is theat whenever he is calling his cadence, it is always "Blue 80" or "Blue 20." I think he should change that up.

I don't thin Coach Tomlin needs help with that.

I think that is an old habit of his (watch old games as he's been doing it forever). I agree Sarge, his cadence could be a weapon.

One more thing, what is up with the Gaurd slapping the Center just before snap........ "Ds" tee off on that easily.

You actually see similar stuff around the league. No, not every team has the guard slap the center, but it seems a fair number of teams have some kind of pre-snap signal that they have all of their calls straight and know their assignment and everyone is set.

In his prime, Ben could escape the rush and make an accurate throw on the run during plays where he was slow to recognize things.

Many of the plays that resulted in first downs or big plays five years ago are sacks or errant throws now.

Ben still has the arm talent, as his arm is not completely shot like Peyton Manning's or Drew Brees' were at the end of their careers.

The issue with Ben is that he was never the most alert QB, and was more dependent on his mobility as a result. He's not a bad decision maker, but he's never had the command of the game that several of his peers of the era have had.

Accurate assessment. 👏
