Myles Garrett traded to the Rams?!?!

I know Verse is a good player but to say they aren’t losing out on the deal I am not so sure. They aren’t known for being draft Juggernauts and let’s be honest a good player yes a Myles Garrett equivalent player…. not so much.

I mean on a good drafting team I might be more inclined to agree with you..

true, true, browns certainly have a penchant for drafting poorly, particularly in early rounds. also, this will be the rams former 1st rd pick, so I think its safe to say this will not be a "top-15" pick in the draft, unless the browns package it with other picks to move up.
 
Anyone who says the briwns didn't kill this trade is insane. Id trade Watt for a player of Verse ability in another position and a 1st in a heartbeat. They also got 2nds and 3rds. You might get another 30 or 40 sacks from Garrett and Watt. Maybe less. You will get that from Verse alone.

as if they won't **** up the draft picks
 
They traded him while his value was high. Omar hasn't done that with our valuable guys.

Anybody who thinks dealing Garrett for Verse and draft picks makes a team better is wrong. Verse is good, maybe an 8 sack guy. He is basically Alex Highsmith, a 3rd rounder.

Meanwhile, you lose a guy who can demolish an offense. Then you draft three players, hoping - praying - they are as good as the guy you traded. But they won't be. I can all but guarantee that the three players they draft will combine for zero NFL defensive player of the year awards, zero MVP awards, almost certainly zero MVP votes, and probably zero NFL defensive player of the year votes.

So you wind up with four guys, none of whom is remotely as good as Garrett. It's the equivalent of trading Ohtani for four really good players. Stupid. Ohtani and three other even mediocre guys >>> the four guys you get in return. Ohtani and one good player plus two lousy players >>>>>> four good players, since you have Ohtani and a good player plus two roster spots to improve the team further.
 
I hate to say it, but it appears to be a WIN for the Browns.
Verse is 25, while Garrett is 30.
Browns are now going to suck MORE, so they can get their QB1 in '27 in a VERY heavy QB class, plus an All-Pro pass rusher that's 5 years younger, and 2 more picks.
Not bad.
 
The Rams are going to be very good again this year, so that 2027 first round pick will be late, likely in the very high twenties or early thirties. Stafford's probably got just a few good/great years left, so the trade makes sense from LA's win-now perspective.
 
Interesting. Before this the Rams traded for McDuffie for a 1st,3rd,5th and 6th. Then made him the highest paid CB.

Signed Stafford to a 55 million dollar deal who they also gave up 2#1’s and a 3rd when they acquired him. Plus Goff.

…..Now giving up a 1st,2nd and 3rd for the highest paid non qb contract in football.

Obviously they have been taking a different path than most teams on building a SB caliber roster.

While quite a few are saying this is a win for the Browns,the Rams have had quite a successful run at this strategy.
What exactly have the Browns done?
 
Verse isn’t a game wrecker by himself. He does need a Robin or Batman. However, he is someone you can get someone in via free agency or draft next year to make this a damn good unit. This is a very good move by the Browns.
