We have a lot of fans that are very intelligent. way more than me. But none of us know anything about running/coaching an NFL team

I constantly tell people that Position coach, Coordinator, and head coach are three totally separate jobs… a position coach needs to know the technical aspects of the position… tgey are tge teachers and evaluators.. a coordinator needs to know the x’s and o’s and physics of the game.. they are the engineers… a head coach is a manager. They oversee and arrange the direction of the team.

I think it’s important for head coaches to have some experience at lower levers so they understand what needs to happen, but I’m not a fan of micromanager head coaches… also a lot of great coordinators are lousy head coaches because they just aren’t the same… but conversely there are great leaders tgat suck at coordinating that probably would make great head coaches.. i thought arians was a fairly mediocre OC with glaring flaws.. he was really good at head coaching…

This is a tired narrative. Saying Tomlin doesn't know how to manage a clock.

We saw first hand with the Cots and Raiders burning time, 20-30 seconds. Tomlin has never done that. TOs will be a litte better since every half Ben would always seem to burn one early each half.

Though he does have poor stats on challenges.

NFL head coaches are terribad at on game strategy. They really all should have strategic coordinators … they have so much other bullshit to deal with that they really should delegate that stuff to a guy whose whole skillset and duties are focused in that area..

The worst flaw on challenges has to be challenges of spotting the ball

So rarely overturned but damn if he doesn’t keep trying. That’s the one I’d have him stop trying unless it is soooo obvious you can’t lose the challenge

Because he doesn't. Years ago, when the Raiders drove for a go-ahead TD and the Steelers trailed by 3 with about 30 seconds left in the game, he explained he did not use the team's final timeout when the Raiders were inside the 10-yard line because he wanted to "save one for the offense." Da fuq??? He doesn't know the offense can stop the clock without using a timeout? Steeler fans are forced to watch his teams blow at least one timeout per game, and misuse timeouts, and watch the game clock drain away because he is turned into a pillar of salt yet again.

False. See above. Also, the fact that some idiot eats razor blades does not mean that the other idiot eating dishwashing liquid is smaaaht.

That is because yet again, as happens every game, the OC cannot get the play and in and personnel on the field, they break the huddle with 10 seconds left on the play clock and have to blow a timeout to avoid a penalty. If only there were somebody in charge of fixing **** like that, a "head" of coaching or something.
