as you said, they are contenders on paper only. It's smart that they are being honest with themselves. They have won more than expected but that doesn't change that this season has been all about building the future. They announced that pretty clearly when they traded away Watkins and they doubled down by trading Dareus.

They gave Tyrod a long look. Maybe it's not a real fair look because they have no WRs, but still they've had him for years and apparently they have decided he's not the guy for the future.

Will some guys on the team be mad that they are giving up? Yes, but how many on the team are in their future plans?
