NCAA Tournament

The Dixon experiment should have been over a few years ago. Glad he is moving on. Last 5 post seasons have not been very good. Good luck with TCU.

Thank you Coach Dixon for your time & effort at Pitt. Good luck at TCU.

Given all the stuff that has been written online, Coach Dixon reminds me of former Univ. of Georgia football Coach Mark Richt. Both coaches won a lot of regular season games, made their teams better, didn't embarrass their University, recruited some decent players, but couldn't consistently compete for their Conference titles and NCAA Championships.Coach Richt was let go and moved on to his alma mater. Coach Dixon got a chance to leave before he was asked to and returned to his alma mater.

Good comparison. Dixon was a good guy who did things the right way, but he had lost some of the luster that he built in his early years at Pitt. At the rate they were going, Pitt seemed to be peaked out as the 6-7 ranked ACC team with a chance to maybe make it to the second round every year. I think Pitt is better than that and would have liked to see Dixon lead them back to prominence. However, getting out from his contract while he lands at his alma mater, a place that is ready to commit to basketball is a good scenario for both sides. While it's disappointing Pitt couldn't lure back Sean Miller, it is still an attractive job with an athletic department that is ready to support a coach who wants to build a very good program. They have stepped up their game in football with the staff and will look to do the same with basketball.

Ga. Tech fired their basketball Coach Friday night. It was hinted on one of the local sports talk radio shows that "IF" his Yellow Jackets team was able to win the N.I.T. Tourney that could have been the only way he could have kept his job. Well looks like Pitt won't be able to take a long time making a selection on a new Coach.

I'd rather them get the right coach than rush to hire one because there is another opening.

I agree but here's where it gets interesting. So far only three of the same coaching candidates mentioned for the Pitt job have been mentioned for the GT job as well. (Jeff Capel, Chris Mack, & Bryce Drew)

That un-named Pittsburgh newspaper that rhymes with Toast-Chevette is reporting that Pitt is planning on hiring Vandy's Coach Stallings.

I'm only going to say this.. I sure hope AD Barnes knows what he's doing.

There were rumors he was going to get fired from Vandy so I am not sure what they were thinking.....To be fair the article I read said Barnes had reached out to several candidates but was "spurned." I probably would have went after a top assistant. I would think Pitt would be a somewhat appealing place to coach especially to get your feet wet as a HC.

All I have to say is Rock Chalk WHAT?????? So glad to see the evil 3 out of the tourney now. The evil 3 are Duke, UK, and KU.

White trash Ropy with the dumbest gameplan in basketball history. Getting outscored 32-22 in the paint by a midget team after you had 13 offensive rebounds again shows the cheater does less with more than anyome.

Congrats, Villanova! Thank you for beating the punkass tar heels!

I only watch the last 2 minutes of the Final Four games - this was by far the best!

I consider that a legally binding contract - you're on
