After Najee, we have practice squad guys on most other teams including Snell. We need to sign a legitimate back before training camp. Thoughts on who?

Deonte Johnson and Chris Bozwell.

RB-wise I think we are stuck with whom we've got.

There will be plenty of scrap heap RBs available soon, if needed we know the path to the scrap heap well…****, we are the ones that blazed the trail there

I think the Steelers mishandle the RB position more than any team. We just run the wheels off our #1 RB and hope he doesnt break. I wish we would start splitting some carries more. I think who we have as backups are fine, but if Najee gets hurt I dont think any of our backups can be a feature back. I think there are also more pressing needs though like DE, OL, CB.

I agree with your point on Tomlin running the wheels off but think RB2 really needs to be addressed, they have won games without Watt but the offense sucked last year and would turn into a complete dumpster fire if Snell had to replace Najee for any significant time. Tomlin needs to evolve in his thinking on RB usage, not holding my breath tho...

Williams is about the only RB that wasn't broken by "run the wheels off". His career here was short though. He did a magnifivan't job replacing Bell.

The DL still needs addressed. What magic occurred in the offseason to prevent them from being one of the most pathetic run defenses I've ever seen, from happening again?

I hope they aren't banking on a 35 year old coming off injury to being their fix all. They should have seen what relying on green players can do to an O-line too, not to take the same approach on the Dline.

I encourage you to check out Snell’s stats in games that he started for the Steelers. He’s a better back than people think.

Could YOU post them here ?

I just took a look. In games he had at least 16 carries his stats look fine. In his 3 years here thought he only has had a handful of games where that has happened though. Was he hurt last season? He barely touch the ball in 2021.

Good things have been said/written about UFA Mateo Durant, so we'll see once the pads come on. I will say, though, that I've moved on from Snell and McFarland. We can surely find better options than those 2.
Let's hope he is a diamond in the rough, I'm not sold on Harris, solid yes but not spectacular at all. ****'s the bed in way too many games for an RB1

Snell has shown very little. There was some promise there when he came out of college but he's done little to nothing with it. I wouldn't rely on him to be Najee's backup. McFarland has one foot out the door. Snell might stay as a 3rd back but I would look for someone else as Najee's backup even if it is one of the undrafted guys and if not, a veteran FA.

Maybe with the interior of the O-line not getting their **** pushed in every other play he will look more spectacular.
