Need to address backfield next.

Decastro was fighting that foot for a couple years… pouncey was a shell his last year or two… and AV was criminally overrated… he was ok at his peak… nothing more…
And yet they were still better than the Line we had last year. Having a Rookie Center Convert was about as dumb as dumb could be and just when you think you know how dumb it was go watch the tape and you will see it was even worse. I don't care if you have all time, all world, all pro guards and tackles, if your center sucks your gonna have problems especially in the run game. Green killed us last year (not to mention all the other lack luster performances on the line. Only 2 returning players had any previous starting experience. We are lucky Najee didn't ask for a trade after playing behind that line (and im only half joking when i say that)! I would also take Pouncey at age 45 before i would take Green last year. Green was terrible, couldn't even snap the ball well most of the time (big problem when you run the offense out of the shotgun most of the time).

Not arguing with any of those points, im just saying that save for the year after Haley left, where we ran his offense for the season, we haven’t had anything close to a competent run game… and frankly tge run game during tge Bell years was mostly predicated on Bell dancing around in a weird way that just fit the line.. he wasn’t really traditional …

But better than what we had last year
Lol last year we preannointed two rookies as starters, set a 2nd year guy who had started 4 games between them, brought in a udfa at the other guard spot, and had our RT as a guy who had one season of starting experience… it was never going to be pretty lol

The Green debacle was a shitshiw from the get go

We have a head coach with no clue on how to use a running back rotation. In his own words he likes to run the wheels off the #1 guy, see Parker. He will shorten Harris's career due to overwork and the injuries and wear and tear that accompany too many carries for too many years.

They were still much better than our OL last year.

I thin k our OL will be much better this year. I think with the year experience and the off-season to build......... the LT position will be better than he was last year. I also think that the Center position will be much better than last year due to either better (different) player or a off-season of work to be better (Green).

It has to be better if simply cause it can't be any worse. I know we have not had training camp yet but it has to count for something that our starting center last year is now listed as the 2nd string guard.

It will be better because there was an upgrade at C and G. The LT should be better with his rookie year out of the way. Then Dotson has potentially two other players capable of taking his job. Usually that brings out the best in competition. Then that leaves Chukes that will probably be around what he was last year. Ok against the pass rush mediocre against the run.

I see this too but am still concerned about if Dan Moore doesn't make a single step up what will we do?

I think Dan has worked his *** off durring the offseason. Couple that with the rookie year's experience and he should be at least a small leap ahead of last season.

Our interior part of the OL is where the big step up should be seen imeadiately upon taking the field.

I hope Coach Tomlin gets this OL playing side by side over at least 2 full pre-season games. Last year he kept the rookie Moore in suspense by switching him from LT to RT even in the final pre-season game. I don't want any of that bullsquat happening this year. Make the starting line up and let them practice / play together before the season starts. We don't need the 3-5 weeks in season for the starters to actually start to gel.

PS

I understand the coaching needing time to evaluate but I' pretty sure they want Dan at LT and starting. I'm also pretty sure most of the starting OL is allready decided. TC could change things a little but that's what training camp is for.

Always a possibility. With an offseason and full training camp at LT and the learning primarily out of the way, I think the odds are in his favor. Like everything it is a wait and see. Good thing is that two out of the three QBs can scramble in that pocket giving them a little extra time while the Oline continues to mesh.

david jhonson camp invite, if not see if the bills cut singaltary

Singletary is trash, Johnson was a 1 year wonder in 2016

id be fine if they scrapped up the dollars to sign trey flowers. seeing him on the other side of watt would really give this defense some teeth. Even tomlin calling the plays couldn’t screw up that pass rush haha GoSteelers!

Just out of curiosity, Alex Highsmith has been doing a great job in my opinion. Where is he lacking in causing the merit of bringing in Trey Flowers with the added cost to the cap ?

I don't think the STEELERS are even going to sign Deonte Johnson yet alone bring in Flowers.

I'd think they would have CB as a higher priority.
