Wouldn't have mattered one bit. That is not a coaching a player up during two weeks of the season change. People just stop. You can't move a player that's never played that position or any secondary of the ball position into one that is totally different in a few weeks with the limited practice time allowed. Just because both are called line backer means nothing, they are extremely dissimilar positions. Learning to react to MLB reads is real process. I know as I have tried to make that move myself in season from OLB. They were proactive in going out and signing additional bodies like Myles Jack.
