NFL 2022 draft thread

I’m with you, but I just have this awful feeling that not only are they going to draft Willis, they’re gonna trade up to get him. It’s mostly resignation at this point.
That would seem to be the sentiment of the talking heads. I'm not sure what they see that I don't.

Player announcer guy has the mic logged in his esophagus.

I'm with you on this one. I have had a bad feeling for a few weeks now that they are going to do the dumbest thing possible and trade well into the top 10 to get Willis. That will screw the team for years as we won't be able to fill the many needs we have unless you consider late-round picks as your future starters. To move up that far, they would have to give up this years 2nd and probably next years 1st and 2nd to start.

my dream is that these other teams reach like there is no tomorrow and by the steelers pick one of the premium guys is too tempting to ignore for a meh qb prospect

I just don't want to hear in the top 10 picks that the Steelers have traded up. They can trade just ahead of the Ratbirds to get Davis but I'd much rather prefer they sit tight and let the draft come to them. Pick the top DL or WR at 20 and do the opposite at 52. If a stud S drops to 20, then maybe go that route.

Yep. I think most of us can see the train wreck that lies before us whether we want to admit it or not. Colbert is one foot out the door and Tomlin is a moron. We will have confirmation shortly for just how badly that we are f**ked.

You only do that if you have a Peyton Manning/John Elway coming out. I can't even believe for a second the Steelers would possibly torpedo their team for the next 3-4 years giving up the farm for a 60% passing QB from Liberty.

What about a 55% completion guy from Wyoming?

He’s a great athlete, he’s just not impressive passing the ball. Passing the ball is an important part of the process for a QB.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same thing. QB=Passing Not running.

On my first titos to soften the anguish I'm expecting.

Here we go Steelers here we go! First draft of the post Big Ben era! The day Joe Greene retired Chuck Noll retooled the defense to a 3-4 and we’ve been playing it every since. It was right call teams had moved from run-run-pass to pass-pass-pass and he knew Joe Greene was never going to be replaced. With Ben gone do the Steeler try in vane to redraft him or move on. The game has changed since they drafted Ben 18 years ago qbs more mobile the running game making a comeback. but one thing that hasn’t changed defense wins championships. And right now the Steeler aren’t fielding a championship defense. The mojo that mystique that marked so many great teams seems to have disappeared. As Colbert drafts himself out the door I hope remembers what it is that really makes the Steelers the Steelers! HereWeGoSteelers!

Good point but I wouldn't have done it for Allen either. Saying that, I would still take Allen over Willis just on him being 6'5" vs 6'0" and very mobile.

I don’t want to believe it, but it’s not hard to see it happening.

Exactly it isn't just that Willis is inaccurate, it is his height, it is him not winning a start so transferring to a smaller school, it his accuracy actually decreasing in his last season in college football, it is his senior bowl looking like a Action Jackson.

So many check marks for a highly touted player. Unfortunately the check marks are negative not positive. This isn't the second coming of Russell Wilson, or Allen. This is Lamar Jackson's doppelganger.

That style of play can get you wins sure the rats get them. But it handcuffs your team in clutch situations if you can't accurately fit footballs into tight windows. So you become a great fantasy football team but a great playoff team, not so much.
