NFL agrees to no preseason games

LOL.

the roster size is 55 this year. I haven't heard what htey will do about "IR" for Covid. could have been announced and i didn't see it.

NFLPA stated that players won't play unless their pay is guaranteed if they catch covid. This means big roster changes will have to be made. If the LB room has one person coughing, that's 8-10 guys with Covid. This is why I said you will need 20 extra people. A good compromise would be protecting the 10 Practice Squad players to allow them to move freely from the roster without clearing waivers this year.

The more restricted everything becomes the less chance of a season being completed. I see player's side and the greed of the MACHINE. I hope the best of two entities can coexist.

Salute the nation

I know it's cancelled. That wasn't the point. The point is that college teams don't always schedule cupcakes to open the season and they are fine without preseason play. Professionals will be ok.

the vast majority do schedule cupcakes early. Alabama has been very smart in scheduling an alleged good team week 1. Bama has the advantage early in season because they have so much depth. That means their practices are much harder than their opponents. Bama would have crushed USC week 1 . However later in the year it may have been a closer game.

college also has 85 on the roster plus Walk-ons. There are no gameday roster restrictions. So a good team does get their second team meaningful game Reps in regular season games. NFL bench players get almost nothing. You will see a college team play their entire second team for sometimes a whole half.

by the time a kid is a junior, and ready to start, there’s a good chance he’s had a good bit of game experience. I’m not talking skill guys, I’m talking OL and positions that take time to develop.

college bench players get far more opportunities to prove themselves. Without a preseason, when do NFL bench players get their time? During the season, bench players barely even get practice reps, especially now since they limit padded practices.

if ben gets all the rust off and is ready to go vs nyg, i think our will give barkley trouble but 1 cut and oversue he can make you pay, hopefully both the o and d are at end of sept speed.

Fair. i just don't know what will ultimately be agreed to. Pat Kirwan made the point that if there is a 3 week IR for a covid+ test and the gestation is 14 days, a coach may not want to "Covid IR" that player if he thinks he can get him back in 14 days. But, your point is one I thought about - a single unit or team could be devastated by one positive test that turns into 14 positive tests. Mark my words, some team will lose games and playoff spot over this and all hell will break loose with that teams fans. There are no easy answers and I ain't offerin' none. Just sayin it is gonna be a ride.
