There was a recent court ruling that said you could go back to college if you still have eligibility, even if you've played in the pros. We may see a bunch of late round guys decide to go back and try the draft again in 27 rather than sit on a practice squad.

Should Kaleb Johnson think about it?

I could see that happening for players for sure especially if there is some coin involved. They make money on the PS so I am sure that would be a difficult decide for some.

If they did that, why would the team that drafted them, or got them under contract, have to lose that player's rights? It seems that they drafted them, so they are in the "minor league" but still a player for that team.

You sure the drafted team doesn’t retain rights to the player should he return to the NFL……..

I guess it would come down to contract that was signed.

Probably most of the re-colleged players are bottom tier and respective teams are ok with them gone.

EDIT: If that questioned player actually made the practice squad, then the respective teams are should retain the rights to him. If the questioned player does not make the PS, then he is free to go fishing or snipe hunting.
