The National Football League announced Thursday its Sunday Ticket subscription package would go to Google's YouTube TV starting next season, marking the league's second media rights deal with a streaming service.

YouTube TV will pay roughly $2 billion a year for the rights of the Sunday Ticket package, according to people familiar with the matter. The deal runs for seven years, one of the people said.

It will succeed depending on what they charge for it. $2 billion a year?o_O Wishing they allow individual team purchases, but probably not.
How successful do you think the Thursday Prime streaming games were this year?

I have not been a fan of the Thursday streaming package. Too many freezes and lagging, ****** picture for HD. Maybe just my internet?

I dropped Direct tv Tuesday. went to xfinity. can begin to tell you how happy I am. cheaper, better service. storming here today and not losing coverage......

Great, now maybe I can watch the Steelers out of market on the road.. Direct tv was *** os so many areas where you couldn’t get it but they kept the restrictions up

Wait until your new member promos expire with Xfinity. Curious how cheap you think it is then. Xfinity sucks.

will try and find this thread in 2 years when anything expires. The only reason for me to have direct tv was the sunday ticket. it is gone and so am I

Way better than DTV!

I dropped them years ago to just stream. Got Fios and use YouTube TV. Save a fortune.

It’s kind of interesting how this is all going. One day down the road we will be talking about the good old days of free streaming and downloading. And maybe even cable service. I’ve been a cord cutter for many years now.

Back in the good old days my Internet / cable bill was coming to over 200$ a month. Throw in all the cell phones my family had that were paying for( 4 kids, two adults) and it was verging on the ridiculous. Geeeez back then we even had a landline we were paying for.

Seems now they are trying to nickel and dime you. Except it sure starts to add up again. Netflix,Crave,Amazon Prime,Apple,YouTube TV,Hulu,HBO MAX.......the list goes on and on. I know so many people that have to have all of them it seems. I wonder if they add up how much it costs on their CC bill every month. That almost invisible automatic withdrawal. Sure starts to add up again.

Started looking for alternatives to all the big boys for cell and internet services. There are many great smaller companies that provide. You just have to do your research. Don’t know if it’s the same in The USA, for at least 8-10 years now I have been paying 28.00 taxes in for my cell/ included Unlimited talk ,text ,voicemail North America wide.
3GB a month Internet. That’s enough for me. I find I rarely go over that. I know many people with the big companies are still paying well over 60$ a month for their cell phone providers. All these things really start to add up again. Look around.

So, you will need to be a Youtube TV subscriber and then pay for the upgrade. I can only imagine how much it will cost a person now. I am sure a lot more. They could have brought in so many more customers if they would have opened this up to multiple providers and at a lower price point. They would have made even more money. I am 99% sure I am out now unless this somehow ends up being cheaper with getting a subscription and the upgrade. I won't pay a dime more.

I'm not championing DTV, just saying that Xfinity is no better. Your pricing will soar after the promotional period ends. I've lived it for years. And when I say soar, it could be anywhere from 50 to 100% more than what you are currently paying. Four years ago when I was new member, my internet bill went from $40/mo to nearly $95 /mo within the first 2 years. Same speed. No changes. Several years back, a friend of mine had cable and home phone through them. I remember him telling me how his bill went from $120/mo to $230/mo in the first 2 years.

You have to be willing to call and *****, or be accepting of the fact that they will bend you over in due time.

I’m easily saving 120/m. With YouTube tv. Plus Xfinity net blows imo. Well at least the lines in our development. Constantly had drops. Fios I got a G up/down and never have any drops.

I did do Disney for two months so the wife could watch a movie and me knock out the star wars stuff. Once we were done, dropped them. We had Netflix when we were Xfinity so I consider that a wash.

Yep. At this point, given the streaming services that are available at half the price, I have no idea how DTV or Xfinity has any cable customers remaining.

I just researched my past 4 years of Xfinity billing. After the initial first 2 years, my monthly internet bill went from $40 to $92/mo. After calling and complaining, I got another 2 year deal at a higher rate. It went from $65 to $130/mo after those 2 years ended. After further bitching, I'm back at $65 for a 12 month period.

They are virtual monopolies in certain areas and thus can act like ***** in others… cable companies should not be allowed to provide service and content… its a conflict of interest…

If that is the case I will drop them also. I just need to for the basics and Steeler games.

You don't need DTV to get Sunday Ticket. This says you will need a Youtube subscription and Sunday Ticket. I hope they lower the price overall but my guess is it will only go up.

I don't think that's going to be the case. CNBC said that YouTube will be offering the football package a la carte. We'll see. I've been with DirecTV since '06, and my promotional discounts run out in January, so I'm most likely out of there. They've been giving me Sunday Ticket either free or at a significant discount for years. Looking into a firestick that gets just about any channel for a very low monthly rate.

I think it will be. YouTube tv, which is what I have is the streaming service while “Primetime” is there YouTube upgrade. I think the latter is much cheaper option

Starting next season, NFL Sunday Ticket will be available on two of YouTube's growing subscription businesses as an add-on package on YouTube TV and standalone a-la-carte on YouTube Primetime Channels.

Old but think it’s good read. Premium is cheaper route for sure. So if you have a smart tv with apps you can watch via normal YouTube

I already have youtube tv and love it. I think this deal lives or dies by being able to purchase individual games. If they try the directv approach it will fail miserably. Not like alphabet can't afford to lose some money. But if they let you ala cart games or a specific team they are much more likely to succeed. I paid $90 for sunday ticket streaming because my wife is currently getting her master's degree and used their college promo. I would gladly pay $100 to only get to view out of market Steelers games a year. But if you try to get me to buy a $400 annual package for every game. Not going to happen. Maybe do $10 an individual game or $100 for a team or do the $400 for every game. I bet they made more money doing it that way.

Sunday Ticket prices will not be going down and that is why Apple dropped out because they wanted to lower the price. The latest Fox and CBS NFL deals included clauses Sunday Ticket prices could not decrease significantly because they did not want the competition with Sunday Ticket and the NFL agreed so they could get more money from Fox and CBS. I think this will also most likely mean you can’t buy just one team and will need to buy the entire package.

If that is the case don't buy alphabet stock anytime soon lol. I honestly feel they have priced themselves out of the market. I can go to reddit and find a link to the Steelers game and watch it from my computer for free. Not the quality as the NFL Sunday Ticket free but the price is right. And it's me and several other million willing buyers doing the same. We just aren't willing to fork over all that money for games we don't give two ***** about.
