Well ever since the Senior Bowl everyone has believed that the Pittsburgh Steelers love Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. That was again brought up on Ari Meirov’s Podcast today with NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

“Everyone thinks he’s going there [Pittsburgh], by the way. But just being down there, and being around NFL circles and buddies, everyone’s saying that he’s going to be a Steeler.”

Here in LA for Super Bowl week and had the chance to chat with NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah (@MoveTheSticks). Discussed Rams/Bengals, the best HC hire, Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, the #Jaguars pick at No. 1, could Kayvon Thibodeaux slide, and much more.https://t.co/rAdbuh06lJ

Now the only issue is the fact that the Steelers are picking at pick 20. The chances of him slipping down to 20 are slim to none at this point. He was impressive at practice, and during the game with his ability to get out of the pocket and make plays. He’s likely overtaken Pitt’s Kenny Pickett at the first quarterback to be selected.

If all of the NFL circles believe that he’s going to end up a Steeler maybe they believe that general manager Kevin Colbert is going to trade up in his final draft before retirement. They would likely need to move into the back half of the top ten to make that happen. They traded up to pick 10 for Devin Bush in 2019 so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. The cost would probably be steeper knowing they would be moving up for a quarterback and not a linebacker.

The Steelers don't do smokescreens. We knew Najee would be the pick a long time before the draft. I know it's early, but it's hard not to get that feeling if Willis is there, he'll be the pick.

I will say one thing about Tomlin and his drafts, he almost always gets the guy he wants. There are only two drafts that come to mind, where we didn't have a really good idea of who they were targeting.

2016 Artie Burns, there were a few names floating around, but not that ONE GUY that everyone knew Tomlin wanted. And his first two years weren't bad, there was promise. It just went completely downhill after that.

2018 Terrel Edmunds, this one caught everyone of guard. And because of his first round status, he catches a lot of flak on here, but I think he's developed into a solid starter.

However, this draft just feels like Jarvis Jones all over again. You try your best to reason with it, even try to convince yourself that it could work out...but we all know how it ends. So I'm hoping and praying that Detroit loves him more and takes him SUPER early.

I understand if he falls to 20. However, to trade up to 10 to get him is insane. He is a massive boom or bust pick. What would you have to give up to get to 10? I would think your #20 and maybe a 1st next year or both your 1st and 2nd this year? That would be a massive mistake. Just rebuild the offensive line, get a DT and a CB draft, or free agency.

Disagree on artic burns, everyone knew the Steelers wanted CB William Jackson III and that's why when the bungles swooped him they reached for what they thought was the next best CB, at least in potential... I just got nauseated remembering that fiasco

Not supping the Kool Aid to Willis. Sure he has athleticism, and a strong arm, but his accuracy isn’t there yet and he probably won’t be a game manager when it’s time to be one. Would rather get a stud OL (Penning would be awesome) or if Pickett fell would rather have him.

Please, for the love of God, no.

Back half of the top ten? This is the same guy who threw 3 interceptions against both Middle Tennessee State and Louisiana-Monroe.

There is no way they should be trading up for any QB in this draft. If Pickett or Willis falls to them, then maybe but no way do you mortgage your future by giving up so much on a guy that is more like Lamar than Allen. We want a QB first. If Willis can be that after a year or two sitting behind Rudolph or another vet, then we lucked out. Willis has huge upside but he is the biggest boom or bust of all the QB's. And, they damn well better not reach for Howell in Rd. 1.

Well Mike. Look at the QB matchup in the Super Bowl. Either of those guys have a game that looks like Willis? Has any qb that has a game like Willis made a Super Bowl?
And furthermore Mike has actually done a good job game planning Lamar Jackson. They have done a really good job against him. He should realize it isn't that hard and I find it hardbto believe Willis is better than Jackson.

Slash 2.0 - damn near same size with a weaker arm. No thanks.

I want to hope that he will be good, but he is a textbook smallish athlete playing qb that never wins **** in the postseason…

If they draft him Tomlin will ultimately get fired if he can’t develop him…

Lets hope

SORRY

I remember Jackson and Karl Joseph, but most of the noise I remember was the board wanting Jackson.

I am hoping the hype of him has him long gone before the Steelers pick. Someone compared him to Kyler Murray, with less accuracy. I wouldn't be against having Kyler Murray-type running the offense, but I'm leaning toward getting some muscle on the OL and DL and going after a Marcus Mariotta or Mitch Trubisky and see what the QB crop looks like next year.

We've witnessed a Darrelle Revis-esque fawning from Tomlin regarding Willis.

I'm not only concerned about drafting him at the current spot, but I'm slightly starting to fear/anticipate a trade up at this point.
Id be trading down… if a qb falls into the end of the first that they like, fine… but with this class getting enamored with a flawed qb is the last thing you want…

The kid has a big arm and some mobility… none of that matters if he makes ****** reads and has the accuracy of a blunderbuss

The one thing I learned in the days of ye old Kordell was that there are some guys who are practice all stars but at gametime they just cannot cut it…. So i get that he showed great athletic abilities during the sr bowl practices, but you don’t want to overlook his known game flaws when decisions are made on how much draft capital you want to spend on him

This, this.....THIS!!!! C'mon, the guy didn't face anything near top college defenses and he's Baker Mayfield height!!!! I can't justify wasting #1's on a 50/50 coin flip the guy can play.

With Colbert retiring, his influence in this draft will likely be limited, so this will all fall on Tomlin.

While the draft is a crap shoot, you can't afford to screw up your first-round pick on potential, which would be the case with any of the QB's taken.
Fill a position of need with the best player available, one that is certain to play for years, and don't knee jerk just because Ben is gone.

I dont see Colbert not having the same say he always did..(whatever that truly is) otherwise why bother hanging around

Horse hockey!

We drafted Najee last year and started to rebuild the O-line...stay the course and build the team around NAJEE! Get a dude off the street to compete with Mason and Dwayne and forge on.

The thought of Tomlin drafting and developing a project QB is laughable. The next few years are gonna be a bloodbath.
