NFLPA ranks Steelers dead last in latest survey

Probably true too, but these guys aren't playing at P4 anymore so they're comparing pro facility to pro facility.
I'm sure going from Alabama to Dallas isn't a huge drop, but going from Alabama to Pittsburgh I'm sure that's an eye opener.
It sounds like the Steelers are out of room to really expand on the South Side.

So i haven't lived in Pittsburgh for 47 years and obviously not familiar any longer with the area as I once was.
Question for you Ike…. Suppose either Art or son Dan do in fact express their desire for a new venue, do you have any idea what areas would make sense? I wonder if there is available property along the North Shore or other areas?
I’ve heard talk of Moon Township which seems ridiculous to me. Moon is out by the airport which is what, 20,25 miles from the city.

The Steelers two main facility problems are both related to Pitt--the grass at the stadium and the lack of room for expansion.

My question, does the practice facility hurt the team in any significant way? We laugh at Tomlin's record, but they haven't had a losing season in forever and don't seem to have many problems signing big-name free agents, whether it's their own or outside free agents. Win some playoff games and then I'll worry more about the players having LED lights in the locker room.

I would prefer they move the team out of my tax district if thats the case... .. the Only exception I would have is if the followed through on the original 3 rivers plan and built it over the river on a bridge platform, but only because it would be cool as hell


Also moon township or anywhere around the airport wont work... There are restrictions on putting large venues too close to that as cleveland's owners are learning now..

I thought I heard someone say if they could get it near Cranberry, so it's just in Butler county would be ideal.

Butler would work for me... still driveable, they can screw with that countys taxes... pittsburgh would still get all the hotels filled and the nightlife from it.. the state still makes their money...

I think these grades speak more to the players than anything else.

Locker room F-, treatment of families F, team travel F?

I don't know who's voting, but they're comparing locker rooms to college facilities. Are the Steelers taking a 4-seater or is it they don't sit in business class or lack WiFi? Is the team giving families the middle finger upon arrival at the stadium? Family members have lower level seats at games (top players have luxury suite), are always down on the field after games, on the field at training camp, have special events throughout the season. There's just a bunch of prima donnas on this team.

The guys on the radio that cover the team says they get Chartered flights, maybe they're staying in the Rodeway Inn for away games.
 
The Texans new training facility, 85 acres, multi-use. About 25 miles away from NRG stadium.

I don’t reside in Pittsburgh either and the only family left is in Monroeville. What Art2 and Dan would want is to follow what Ambassador Rooney and the Chief always mandated, the team “is part of the city of Pittsburgh”, so that mantra would continue. Also living so close to the north shore sort of ingrained the thought in the Chief and young Ambassador Dan. The plan to move the team facility to or near Acrisure sounds promising, but like I mentioned before I have no idea how to achieve it.

The problem for Art2 and Dan is that the SEA pretty much controls all of the North Shore Development, amongst other areas. The Rooney’s wealth isn’t the same level as some of the other owners (DAL, LAR, ATL, LAV) who can bypass local government/community jurisprudence. Tax revenue is the all knowing/seeing formula of local government and if you can pay it upfront without public funds you avoid government wanting their piece. As the SEA is the czar of city land use for sports/entertainment venues, unless you have Jerry Jones type finances you are going through them. Otherwise, until Pitt Univ can exist without so much dependency “on everyone else” it’s going to be tough being independent of SEA reach for any new stadium.

I agree with Mad, anywhere around Moon or the airport is a non-starter, there is too much infrastructure to take into account.
 
what about what used to be allegheny center mall... it was a **** hole in the 80's.. has to be defunct by now.

or the Brunots island down accross from mckees rocks.

Treatment of Families - not enough comp tickets? What does this comprise of?

Locker Room - Ok,, Probably. Easily remedied. Why havent they done anything with it?

Team Travel - The team airplanes dont serve alcohol? They dont fly fast enough? Or maybe its that they take a bus to cleveland (idk if this is true)

Ownership - Those guys have zero to do with the goings on.

Home Game field. - Yeah probably have a complaint here, but its grass in Pennsylvania,, Not Turf. *******.

These guys make more in a year than i ever will ever.

They got some attention the last time and arts complaint that it gets aired publicly,,

I got no compassion for any of them.

Just about.
In college it’s about attracting the best and hoarding the talent. Of course any P4 will try to gain the upper hand.


At the professional level. It’s just that. Professional. You’re rewarded with big $$$ and not novelties like LED lights in the locker room.


Sure on one hand. It can be a bad look. But also on the other hand you’re paid well, fed well, have travel arrangements, you’ll at least have access to basics like a weight room and practice fields.

Everything after that falls on the environment the coaching staff installs.
