Nick Cage as John Madden

Sorry, Tom Cruise is numero uno and Bale is a close 2nd with the late, great Heath Ledger and 3rd would Val Kilmer perhaps?

I do believe you may have just started a very large argument, Bleeder. This thread has the potential to break the Dri Archer one.
Give me Clint Eastwood, Gerald Butler, maybe Pitt…

😅

Tom Cruise has played the same character 20 times. Russell Crowe - compare Gladiator and Master & Commander to A Beautiful Mind. LA Confidential is another incredible movie/performance by him.

The Archer thread is flaccid compared to several in the Politics forum. Seriously, 583 pages? 887 pages??

Master and Commander is a great movie. Should have won an Oscar. The whole cast is great in that.

Tom Cruise is a good actor, not a great one. He’s a movie star like John Wayne.

John Goodman should be John Madden.
Cages voice is not even close to Maddens. That will be weird.

There was a yes/ no poll on John Goodman.
Curious to know the results.

NEVER MIND.

That was for a different movie.

John Goodman 20 years ago would have been a no brainer. Now he’s too old. The movie will follow Madden from the 70s. Cage looks good as 70s Madden in that picture and they can age him up and add a fat suit for later year scenes.

Agree. Expect for that voice. Can’t picture that voice coming out of Madden. LOL… I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Philip Seymour Hoffman
Gary Oldman.
Daniel Day-Lewis

These 3 are definitely up there for great actors of our time. Bryan Cranston also does a bunch of different roles very well.

Ed Norton. American History X, The Illusionist and Fight Club.

All great. But not Russell Crowe.

In your ever so humble opinion of course 🙂

I think Gary Oldman in The Darkest Hour was one of the best acting jobs of recent memory. It’s always interesting, because it depends on if you feel some sort of connection with the actor. Some people like Johnny Depp as an actor…..I can’t stand the guy so I would never give him any credit. There’s definitely a few like that in my book. I will readily admit a man crush on Clint Eastwood so anything he does is great to me.

I can't stand Keanu (seems like an awesome man) or Cruise. Or Jodi Foster or Meryl Streep.
I prefer movies/shows where the actor is unknown, because there are no expectations or past ugghh factors.

Cry Macho, Firefox, Pink Cadillac and City Heat were absolute *****. Although a box office success, I hated The Unforgiven.

heath ledger was a talentless hack

Swing goes the hook kick, down comes the ax kick. 887 is where it's at. Oophie goes Cruise 20 times, no sweat. Jungle boogie it is.
the **** kind of reply is this? at least provide something intelligble.

Bradley Cooper has to be up there, too, really good versatility and range. Limitless, The Sniper, Silver Linings Playbook, The Hangover, A Star Is Born, Licorice Pizza, American Hustle are some of my favorites.

That is an outstanding list. RIP PSH. Did you catch his son in Licorice Pizza?

IMO Tom Cruise is the number one movie star but not actor.

In less than 15 words, you over a truck load of truth.!!!

Tom Cruise is not the Mr. Nice guy everyone thinks.

Salute the nation
