So we have our starting 5 . Sure.. but who is staying on the roster behind them.

1. Calvin Anderson
2. Spencer Anderson
3. Dylan Cook
4. Andrus Peat
5. Ryan McCollum

Maybe there are more guys in camp who i havent listed but for my understanding these are the guys who have any shot.

If the steelers Keep 9 O linemen,, then someone on this list is leaving. (or 2 if i omitted someone important)

I would think Peat is a lock

I was thinking the same but then i read an article from Stillers or some bs site. Saying he was on bubble. Plus another recent article from the site not to be named. Predicting the 53 after the first game,, and Peat is not there.
I agree with tdx , i think SPENCER is a lock i think McCollum might be a lock also as the back up Center.
That leaves Cook, Calvin Anderson, And Peat. On the bubble.

I think McCollum is a lock, though he’s been injured and not practicing lately. Absolutely nothing behind him, so barring a late addition there is your top 6.

That leaves peat, cook, and the 2 Anderson’s for Presumably 3 spots.

Peat is far from a lock for me, but his position flexibility is no doubt what drew the team to him.

I’d probably say both of the Anderson’s make it, which in my eyes leaves the final spot between cook and peat.

Anderson has 1 snap from last year. The steelers gave him a 2 yr contract which according to SN radio guys is almost a lock to make the team.

I just dont understand . C anderson is UDFA, and not much game tape on him.
Cook i think just is not good. Thats my opinion.

Steelers really need Peat to come up and take the reins. imo

I honestly believe that one of the 53 spots will be a cutdown addition to the OL group

They apparently like Spencer Anderson, so he may be a lock.

They were 3-0 with him starting last year IIRC (ATL, DEN, LAC)

I’d guess Cook is the odd man out from that list, likely back to the PS for him.

For some reason they seem comfortable with Calvin Anderson.

That’s the way I’m leaning too, but still too early to call in my eyes.
I’d like to think they’ll add somebody, but there won’t be magical plug and play guys hitting the wire anytime soon.

the depth across all 5 positions is no bueno.

Spencer Anderson is young and versatile, can’t do much better than starting off with 3 wins in his games where he started last year. A solid interior depth piece.

McCullom played very well in his time as the backup Center. I was pleasantly surprised for sure. Also a solid depth piece.

Peat COULD be a solid depth piece if there is any gas left in the tank. A previous Pro Bowler with some versatility. To my eyes he is an upgraded swing tackle from Cook.

Do we have 5 top notch starters riding the pine? No, but who does.
Quality OL are scarce and to have what appears to be at least 3 solid backups is pretty good depth imo.

I’d hardly call their depth “no bueno”
Comparing it to what other teams have it’s likely at least B grade depth.

The only spot that concerns me is tackle. Two young guys starting and that is also where the questionable depth is. Hopefully Peat is an answer.

I think both Andersons stick as does Peat and McCollum. Leaving Cook well…..

cooked.
Peat is a Vet T...My opinion he is all but a lock.

I have to agree with this in its entirety.

We had much better depth last year without question. Serviceable I suppose could be of use here….

Tackle is absolutely the weakest link.

McCollum has proven serviceable, but we wouldn’t want him starting for more than a couple games. Plus he hasn’t practiced in what, 3 weeks? Some concern there if he doesn’t get back in time. There seems to be nothing behind him if that injury ends up being longish term.

Anderson was benched rather quickly last year for McCollum, that worked out but there’s another question there as to why McCollum even got the nod over him.

I hope peat works out, and admittedly I don’t know a ton about him other than what’s easily found after we signed him. But man, saints fans sure seemed to want him out of town. And he was unemployed until week 1 of the preseason. He SHOULD be the guy, but still has to earn it in my eyes.

My biggest concern are the tackles spots.

Peat should make the 53 on that alone. His versatility is a plus.

Like many here, Cook is probably….. in the words of our one and only slash…….. cooked

I read an article last week that basically said the fans were upset they didn't resign Peat. So I guess who actually knows.

I question that statement, see how ez that was.

Two young guys with another year of experience is an upgrade

The starting tackles are better imo

Peat is an upgrade over Calvin Anderson imo

I’d say it’s upgraded across the board with better starting tackles too. Also hopefully will have starting LG out of the gates making the depth even deeper if the depth isn’t forced into starting week 1.

Even a green-horn LT such as Jones is an upgrade over the dynamic Dan Moore. You know the guy that the 1st rounder had to wait for to leave…………………
