Fogdoctor, Lloyd's legend, and Steelerfan81 all tied last week by coming within 4 points of the actual score and yet no one predicted the exact score of either team. This week we have two things not in our favor, a good passing offense in the Colts, and the fact that we won last week. The win one, lose one trend continues.

I will pick against the steelers again so maybe they will win. Right now there seems to be more baffling with bullshit than dazzling with brilliance but we will take what they can put on the field. Who knows we might just make a season of wining based on the opposition having a bad game when they play us.

Tough call. We're due for our every other week loss but the Colts have won something like 5 in a row so they're due for a loss as well.

We were lucky to win last week. We can't win 2 in a row on our way to another 8-8 or worse season.

Hard not to pick the Colts

I still won't pick against the Steelers but as I have been saying since OTA's, this team must put 30 plus points on the board. In this game, 30 might not be enough. If we don't score at least 7 in the first quarter and 7 in the 2nd quarter, the game very well may be a blow out. Score early and often.

Steelers - 34
Colts - 27

We probably won't win two in a row but I'll bet we can lose two in a row. The Colts won't give up three touchdowns in less than three minutes. Colts 38, Steelers 20 and I suspect it will be over early.

This will be the toughest out of division test for the Steelers all year. Luckily for the Steelers all their difficult games are at home (Indy, Saints). Indy is 2nd in offense and 4th in defense. They are a good football team but aren't a great road team. They've only played 3 road games all year. They lost to Denver, beat Jax and barely got by the Texans. This should be a close game.

Steelers: 30
Indy: 35

Steelers finally use Bell and Blount in the manner that they are suited for as a "tandem", establish the running game and play keep away with the Colts offense. Mix in a few explosive play action passes, get halfway decent production from the defense and the result is:

Steelers 27

Colts 24

This is a chance for Tomlin to build on some success last week. The Steelers got a HUGE break with the flood of points. If that doesn't happen I think everyone knows they don't win that game. But, it did happen and the Steelers pulled out some much needed self respect.

Tomlin, Haley and Lebeau have a real opportunity to bust some *** and build on last week and prove that they can put together a few good games in a row against Indy and the Ravens. Win the next two games and the Steelers are right back in the middle of the hunt. Lose one or both and they're once again pretty much out of contention. Especially if they lose to Baltimore again. 2 division losses and languishing at .500 is not going to give you a strong wildcard opportunity.

While I think Tomlin is inept, I do see this as a real opportunity for him. Basically the next two weeks are a chance for him to prove that he has the capability to take a team that has real weaknesses and coach them into wins. Can he do it? Probably not. About the only think he's got on his side is that most teams in the league probably aren't taking the Steelers very seriously right now. Even at home nobody can really expect any consistency or real fire from Pittsburgh. They've been so lost this season that both Indy and the Ravens have to assume that they can beat the Steelers by A) getting up early on them and forcing them to be 1 dimensional. Ben's only too eager to throw the ball and with that offensive line he'll be forced to make terribly risky throws. That will play right into Indy's hands if they can get up early.

As for the Ravens, all they need to do is beat the hell out of the Steelers physically. That's worked for them for years and Pittsburgh hasn't been able to match them pretty much since Tomlin got here. We may have been able to stand with them toe to toe for a season or two with Cowher's players, but since Tomlin and Colbert started drafting undersized Tampax 2 players, the Ravens have pretty much just beat the **** out of Pittsburgh physically every time they've gone on the field with them. They don't even try to disguise what they're doing. They just come and bust us in the mouth for 60 minutes and wait for the Steelers to fold. More often than not that's what happens.

So, Mike you pretty much have a golden opportunity to take all the crap people like me have been saying about you and somehow manage to crap a golden egg. I admit, that's a pretty tall order cause by this point we're all pretty sure you're full of ****. But I'd sure love to see a golden egg. I really would.

That said...

If they lose to Baltimore then they'll have 3 division loses because they lost to the clowns. If they are going to make the playoffs then they must beat the rats at home and the bungles at home.

The score was 13-10 before the "flood of points". I'm not going to sit here and say that there's no way we win the game without those turnovers. The Texans offense was stuck in neutral for a big chunk of the game (i.e. the time between their first 3 drives and their garbage-time touchdown).

Don't agree with this. I see the AFC like this: five very likely playoff teams (Pats, Ravens, Colts, Broncos & Chargers) and then the Steelers and the Bengals fighting for the 6th spot. We could lose to the Rats and still finish ahead of the Bengals (hopefully A.J. Green will re-aggravate that toe...)
