PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – According to reports, Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been arrested for domestic violence.

Sports reporter Tyler Baldwin first reported the news Wednesday afternoon.

According to source: Cards RB Johnathan Dwyer was just arrested for domestic violence @azfamily

Dwyer was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He played college football at Georgia Tech.

Dwyer was released by the Steelers prior to the start of the 2013 season. He signed with the Cardinals in March of last year.

Dwyer, 25, is listed as the No. 2 running back on the Cardinals’ depth chart.

He has rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries over two games this season.

UPDATE: The initial report indicated Jonathan Dwyer was arrested for domestic violence. However, a full report claims the running back was pulled from Arizona Cardinals practice on Wednesday afternoon to answer questions regarding a domestic violence incident.

From KTAR: The circumstances around the case are unknown, though it is possible he can be charged.

**********

When it rains, it pours. According to reports, Jonathan Dwyer will be the latest NFL player to bring negative attention to the league after being arrested on domestic violence charges on Wednesday, but exact details were not provided.

The report of the Arizona Cardinals running back’s arrest comes from Tyler Baldwin of 3TV in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dwyer’s reported arrest comes in the wake of the situations with Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy and Ray McDonald.

Considering he is not a high-level player like the other players facing legal issues, we will have to see whether the Cardinals decide to do the exempt/commissioners list or simply release the running back outright.

If Dwyer is shown the door, the Cardinals would be able to call on practice squad running back Chris Rainey to fill Dwyer’s spot on the 53-man roster. There is one problem, however. Rainey has previously been released from a team because of a domestic violence incident.

The NFL and the players need to get their act together. Fast.

well **** in a closet I think its gonna cost him some games

Tweet from CBS news:

CONFIRMED: AZ Cardinals RB Jonathan Dwyer arrested for domestic violence. Charges: -aggravated assault -preventing someone from calling 911

he was actually a packer when it happened

In college he was busted for breaking into a girls dorm room and pooping in her closet. We dubbed him "poopie" Davenport at the bar here. Used to love when we ran poopie down behind colon (willie) . . ..

Are these guys really that stupid? I mean they know there is a major heightened awareness of this kind of stuff now. These guys are going to get the max Rog can throw at them. He has no choice but to throw the max at them especially if Rice's appeal works as I think it will.

Cool if a few more spots open up I'm trying out

you can't make this **** up. Dwyer apparently wanted to outdo both Rice and Peterson ... so he gets arrested for DV involving an 18 month old child.

The arrests stem from two incidents involving a 27-year-old female and an 18-month-old child at Dwyer's home in southeast Phoenix at July 21 at 8 a.m. and July 22 at 4 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department. Dwyer, 25, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on Wednesday on one count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, one count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault.

And, the hits just keep on coming, right Rog.

Rog's precious shield is being shat upon.
He wishes he could go back to just ******* with Deebo's weekly paycheck.

That **** is just so amazing.!!!! One dumbass after another, and these are college educated dumbasses. I do not know the story on this particular incident but it sure sounds bad. 18 month old children can get injured in many ways and often do with out it being domestic violence. It will remain to be seen what is really going on with this case as I have zero faith in the media to get it right. On a positive note the police have very strict guidelines for dealing with domestic violence cases and will charge everything they can initially so as to not be prohibited from doing so later.

Ol Rog is doing his best Silent Bob impersonation lately. The media hog hasn't done many (any?) interviews lately. I guess he figures it will all blow over. Ostrich with his head in the sand. Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

this happened in July. Why now? Brandon Marshall's incident happened in 2007? I'm not saying they did or didn't do what they are being accused of, but this is not piling on??

In Ray Lewis proportions.

If it happened in July there may have actually been do diligence by the prosecutor and police to investigate this. It likely involved doctors and the reports that they would need to generate and then the involvement of the prosecutors office before issuing warrants. Follow up investigations may have also taken place. So this may be the one where justice is running its course and knee jerk media events are not running the show.

LOL.. remember the days when he was judge/jury/executioner? And just pushed the button for everyone?

Eat a dick, Roger.

I'll second that hopefully sams can stop by for an interview.

All the owners love Rog. Even Pepsi called him "a man of integrity". He makes them all tons of money. Like Spygate, this too will pass(under the carpet).

DEFINATELY, not defending the **** head "rog", but what control does he have over these dumb mother F____ers? "rog's" past is whats being criticized as to his fairness. This "new" NFL needs a Zero tolerance rule, spelled out, plain and simple. Left hand column (simple non violent minor things) 8games suspension. Right hand column (serious, charged convicted) temporary ban while legal plays out, LIFE TIME ban when convicted. Simply look at which column your offense is in, you know the out come. NO exceptions and no reinstatement. Might detour and change some of the thugness currently residing in the NFL.

Salute the nation
