"Logical" options at QB1 appear to be:

Fields
Wilson
Darnold
Rodgers
Draft Pick

Who are you taking that's in the best interests of the 2025 season? Same question as it relates to the next 5+ years. Possibly the same answer.

Me, I'll go Darnold to both questions. Then Fields. After that, I'll go Rodgers followed by a draft picl.

Fields/Draft Pick

I'd like to see a complete season out of Fields for a better evaluation than last year. Maybe add a 4th round QB to be developed (haha who am I kidding?).
I don't want any hand-me-downs nor grayballed grandpas..

Its going to be Wilson, like it or not thats what the tea leaves have said all offseason... Fields coming back was always a media concoction.. if the Steelers thought Fields was a long term option, they wouldnt have passed on his option year when they traded for him...
Fields is absolutely the better long term gamble, and his legs let you run the hyperconservative bullshit Tomlin wants... but Russ gives Tomlin that deep sideline strike/ late game heroics he likes...

Remember, with Fields last year they ran a really simplified O because they didnt trust him...

Regardless of what the press says, Im not sure that has changed... and even if Arthur Smith likes him more... im not sure he really gets a say either...

Riggt now im hoping for a late round qb to be a homerun

If it were me, I take Daniel Jones (not on the list). He has the mechanics, is used to playing behind a **** OL and has some wheels. He will be cheaper than most of the named options too.
If Arthur Smith gets back to running his offense from Tennessee (which he didn’t come close to running last year), Jones is at least as good as Tannehill as a “fit”.
Bring in Slayton, (whom he’s played with), a FA CB and bring back “gravedigger” as a NT w legit pass rushing chops and go for the best WR, 3-tech DT and RB in the draft. Add a hybrid TE/FB or “move TE” to keep the defense from setting up in 7-9 man boxes and we MIGHT have an offense, IMO.

Of course Art had some RB named Henry who was kind of OK, OK he was a force of nature. ( 3 years over 5 ypc avg incl. 2024 with Balt.) Clown-lin is obviously not a believer in a gravedigger type of NT, he hasn't had 1 since Hampton who he inherited. Hasn't since, even though we haven't had a top quality D without him since. Dreams of a "real offense" with Clown-lin in charge....keep the dream alive!

can you discuss the topic at hand and leave your tiresome hate of the Steelers head coach out of every ******* thread

Fields - he seems less likely by the day

Wilson - despite the rumors to the NYG, Russ seems like the most likely option

Darnold - he'll go back to seeing ghosts if he signs with the Steelers, and it'll have to be for too much for too long

Rodgers - from a pure entertainment/talk radio POV, electric move

Draft Pick - I'd consider Dart and Sanders at 21, but the Steelers would HAVE to invest in supporting either

I would bring in anyone they could sign for less than 20mil/ year. This allows. Other money to be used on the continuing rebuild. This also gets us one year closer to the end of Tomlin’s employment.

I honestly just don’t see a truly posItive option out there. I think it has to be a 1-2 year option to get us to 27 when they get a new HC, QB, OC, DC and overall philosophy

Draft this year for the trenches, a starting WR (because Pickens will be gone next year), CB depth and a WAG on a QB. Same for 26.

Cant forget Daniel Jones. Like it or not.
I was about to say the same thing. I can see them overpaying for Rodgers (this would be a 100% Tomlin choice only) or Darnold. Or, they bring Daniels in. In fact, even if they sign Fields, they may want to bring Daniels in as he is a pretty easy fit to Smith's offense. This or a high QB draft pick, and of course, Fields wants that same pole position that Wilson had last year. It's an easy request to meet.

They should have locked up Justin long ago now they probably end up losing him to the Jets. He better be careful though. The Jets is where QBs go to die.

News flash————————————- Steelers are pretty close to that statement as well………………..

Contact and see if a trade for Mac Jones is an option.
Could be a cheap bridge, until Dart is ready……….

Chuckling to myself, wondering if this scenario will get so bad that they will regret showing Kenny the door.

You know, if the goal is winning 8 or 9 games a year anyway.

I also should mention that according to rumors, Brock Purdy's camp is " insulted" by the 49rs offer of 45 million per... Purdy is coming off a meh year where they didnt make the playoffs... thats about where the QB market is at...

I don't think there is anyway they are heading into camp with their hopes pinned to a rookie QB in this class. I'd be up for a journeyman take your lumps this year season before any kinda big trade up or stupid reach. Losing bad for a season is not the end of the world people. We have to get that mindset. The other mindset put this team where it is.
