Options at QB1 (including rumors of offer to Darnold)

Remember, with Fields last year they ran a really simplified O because they didnt trust him...

Regardless of what the press says, Im not sure that has changed... and even if Arthur Smith likes him more... im not sure he really gets a say either...

I agree on the Russ angle. It will be him probably....unfortunately. I think we should sign Darnold.
 
Here we (Steelers) are again, in a RE-action decision.

QB is the most important player / decision on any team’s roster, and yet here we are. Looking to possibly way over pay for scrap-heap.

Justin isn’t the savior, but why the hell didn’t they do something end of season or when they decided to bench him for the “Russ”?

I already know the answers, so don’t give me the lecture of Not the Steeler Way.

Let’s see who the Steelers sign before we trash the decision. They can only deal for the available options. Last I looked Burrow and Mahomes weren’t available.

Tomlin can’t develop a Polaroid picture, never mind someone like Dart

Sign Fields, Wilson, Rodgers to a reasonable bridge contract, preferably Fields, draft our guy next year in round 1

I've been a big "wait until 2026" guy, but is next year going to be good either? We are basically banking on a lot of unproven guys to get better or the few QBs who look the part continue to grow. Then there are others who will be overdrafted based on their size alone.

Call me crazy but trade whatever it takes for Arch Manning in 2026, you don’t have jack without a franchise QB and he’s the best chance at one

Khan might just be aggressively minded enough to do it
 
Apparently Rodgers name is being tossed around more so now that the DK deal is done. I really hope not... I'm still on the Fields wagon, but could be persuaded to understand the ideal of Darnold now that the weapons are in place for him (just not the offense). What I don't want is the retread veteran on his last leg (literally in this case) and then reaching for Dart to sit behind said veteran.

I’d have to see Arch actually look decent vs a real team before endorsing him as some sort of savior.

He’s what? 2-0 as a starter vs absolute trash teams and looked woefully average vs the Bulldogs when he was in vs them (and mind you the GA defense isn’t nearly what it was a couple years ago)

Kid needs to prove something before he gets all this love from me, all he is right now is a famous last name with some potential to prove something.

Not that it matters, he won’t be a Steeler.

Unfortunately, Fields is NOT going to sign a “Bridge” contract. I’d guess 25-30mil 3/4 year deal, 50-70% guaranteed. Still pretty cheap but considering his unproven history, that’s quite a commitment.

Jets are going to make a big move for him and that may even drive pricing higher.

Sign the old man Roger’s and you set this franchise back at least a couple years, same for the Russ.

Restating it for clarity. If AAron Rogers dons a B&G jersey, I will not watch one millisecond of any season that arrogant prick plays in. Not. A. One.

Why can't the asshat go play game show host and smoke his ******* weed and leave football alone.

I have nothing to post as far as a source or link.
But I know someone that knows Fields ( yes, I know this makes me sound like Bernita Burtrell who ain't one to gossip so you ain't heard it from me ) who told me Fields was pretty put off on how the Steelers did him this past year.
Apparently, once the Steelers figured out Russ was cooked (which wasn't until the last snap of the season for the Steelers brass) they came running to Justin like, "OK, NOW we're all in on you."
Justin didn't like this due to all the work he put in during the offseason and while he was the starter.

And now Schefter is reporting that we're sniffing around Throw Rogan himself, Aaron Rodgers?
ALL of this reeks of Tomlin's ineptness.

Fields was done in PA, IMO, ten seconds after Pickens said he'd rather have Wilson as QB1.

If the Steelers did lose Fields by their actions, they better be begging Wilson to come back. Rodgers would be a disaster at 41+ for the franchise. Wilson would love to throw to GP and DK, and I would love seeing that moon ball dropping into their laps. Fields or Wilson are the best options they have. I would prefer a younger guy that we can roll with but the Steelers don't seem to have a discernable plan yet. I mean, why even consider a guy like Rodgers for a year or maybe two unless you plan to draft a QB in the first round to take over in a year or maybe two? You could have done that with Wilson. I guess we will probably find out who our QB will be later today or early tomorrow.

Although it's the square wheel vs the flat tire, I'd rather have Rodgers over Russ.
I really don't want either, but of the two, Rodgers has more zip on his throws at this point in time then Russ.

93.7 reporting that Rodgers is meeting with the Steelers today.
Be an outstanding move purely for the entertainment value.
“F you Mikey, Imma call audibles and throw over the middle and call play action. I’m Aaron ****ing Rodgers.”
 
Hopefully its a due diligence move... id rather bring back Ben than Rodgers....

Though it would be hilarious to add yet another surefire HOF guy to pad our numbers there and make the voters that hate adding more steelers die a little inside🤣
 
Tomlin trying to plug in a player here and there. He wasn't kidding when he said they had to be ready right out of the box. He doesn't develop. He plugs stuff in. Kinda like playing that old game "Simon".
