Notre Dame was the best team in the country that would have rolled through the playoffs and totally got robbed. Just ask any delusional, uppity Notre Dame fan.

So glad they didn't get in since they acted like babies, took their ball and ran home. Pavia and Notre Dame.....the two biggest embarrassments of the post season.

I mean, IU only beat OSU by 3 and OSU missed a 27-yard FG and failed on a QB sneak inside the 5 on 4th down.

Sure and the Rats missed the playoffs because rookie kicker missed a chip shot

Or was it because Steelers couldn’t score from the one on before the half and had to get a late TD ,I’m not sure

Steelers bad decision making cost them 3 points and pretty much gifted the rats 3 points. The blocked extra point and their missed FG shouldn’t have mattered.

If anything the Steelers almost gifted them a win …
 
Notre Dame lost the right to ***** when they lost to Miami.. pitt lost to both late in the season, i dont think there is one Pitt fan who would say Notre Dame was as Good as Miami was at the end of the season..,

"Also rans" is a HUGE understatement... they were door mats. Indiana has been an easy win / laugher / blowout on the Buckeyes' schedule my whole life. What Cignetti has done there, despite seeming like the grumpiest a-hole this side of Bill Belicheat, is extremely impressive. And that kid playing QB is hard not to root for.

You’re correct on both accounts.
I was totally disappointed in their reaction.. although they did get robbed and I still don’t understand why. But they should’ve went to a bowl game.

Except 2020 during Covid when they were 6-1 in big ten with Penix
They lost in the shoe 42-27 they also beat penn state Michigan and Wisconsin that year
 
IU is an incredible story, but I don't think it's sustainable. 65% of their starters are from the portal, mostly from Cig's old school. They're going to lose a lot this year and have the 33rd rated recruiting class coming in. 3 other big ten teams have top 5 recruiting classes. You're not going to be able to field teams of 22-24 year olds every year.

Miami is 53.4% portal by comparison, OSU 28%, Georgia 10%. Ole Miss the only playoff team higher at 66%.

Eventually they'll put some guardrails on the system, these kids should have to sign contracts and not just jump every year. Even if not, supply and demand will take effect at some point as more teams dip their toes in the portal pool.

I am not well college rule versed but can they not just keep digging in the portal for players?
 
The most important factor in winning a natty? Experience at QB. Mendoza is a 3rd year starter, Beck is a 3rd year starter in his 6th college season. Last year Howard was a 4 year starter in his 5th season. Year before McCarthy a 2 year starter in 3rd season, two before that, Stetson Bennett won back to back in his 3rd and 4th seasons.

Mac Jones in 2020, Burrow in 2019, Lawrence in 2018 all multi year starters.

Gotta go back to 2017 with Tua in his first full year starting to find a QB with so little experience winning it all.

Most of theirs followed Cignetti from JMU. They'll have to cast a wider net and when other schools get involved, the talent pool will be diluted.

Cignetti himself said they can't keep doing it this much.

How many of those recruits are going to stay and develop? A lot of these guys are going to a different school every year.
