Overhaul Starts Tomorrow

With a generational player in Watt in his prime, and Cam playing so well, they have to be in the thought of winning asap, not rebuild for tomorrow.

first and foremost, Colbert is retiring ... AFTER the draft. Dont know if that is good or bad. Dude can find some damn gems late, but sucks *** early. Do we promote Kahn to that position? Dude's really good at the numbers.

I'd have a sit down with Tomlin and suggest he retire. The current game has passed him and he may need a season or two to catch back up while dropping a few lines in the water or chasing some balls on the course.

I'd replace him with Joe Lombardi. Period. Do the usual Rooney Rule interviews, but Lombardi is who I'd have my eye on when the music stops and chairs are being filled. Lombardi is an up and coming coach, and has 16 years of experience. So he's not exactly a wet behind the ears guy.

I'd suggest Bienemy from KC, but I doubt we have a shot at that guy. He'll likely be given a few truckloads of money to fix things in Houston, Seattle or Vegas. He'd be my top choice, but I don't believe we'd have a shot at him.

Another guy I'd look at is Sean Kugler since the Cardinals OL is quality now.

As for the personnel on field...
We need a guy who is mobile behind this "offensive" line. Not only because the line is in shambles, but also to extend plays and be a threat to run. I'm not talking a Lamar Jackson guy... but someone who isn't a ******* statue like Rudolph. We could very well shore up the OL with a few acquisitions in FA. IMO, Leglue has shown enough to be the guy at LG. Hassenauer should be re-signed to be the C going forward. Slide Dot over to RG and find a RT. Green ... splinter picker.

Resign on offense:
1. Juju. We do need him, even if he's not a true #1 WR.
2. Hassenauer.
3. Anthony Miller. We did make a slight investment in him over the course of the season.
4. Rudolph. Just to have a guy

Resign on defense:
1. Adams
2. Witherspoon
3. Edmunds
4. Maulet

Adams, when he was on the field, was disruptive in both the run and pass games. You could tell when he wasnt on the field, too. He might be our plug in the middle going forward.

I'd also like to begin exploring trades for Bush. IMO, we played better with Allen in than with Bush.

We currently have 41 players signed for next season. Rosters are 53. So if a guy is drafted - he'll likely make the roster, pending any FA signings. Signing the above 8 will leave us 4 shy of a complete roster.

Lines are the priority. A WR or ILB wouldn't hurt either.

Sink or swim with Rudolph next season. Other needs are more urgent. Then concentrate on a QB.

How anyone can't have DL at the top of our list is absurd. We have some young guys on OL that will improve. We need a starter in FA and a draft choice starter in Rd. 2. Alualu will be back at some point but is getting up there and may only have a year or two left. Heyward may only have a couple years left. Tuitt is gone in my mind. We need multiple starting DL to start next season. We need a legit monster in the middle that can play most downs and occupy double teams (have been saying this since Big Snack left) We haven't addressed the D-line since Tuitt's 3rd round pick in 2014. That is ridiculous and it showed by us getting gashed for 200+ yards on the ground. Same as OL, we need a FA starter on DL. We need a 1st round talent DL. We then need to double dip on at least one, if not both of the DL and OL in the draft.
The NFL is about offense and the last thing we need to do is watch another bottom five performance by the offensive line. It has completely handcuffed what we do because they can't pass protect or run block. The route tree is limited because the QBs have to get rid of the ball in less than 2.5 seconds or the sack numbers would be huge. We just invested a first-round draft pick who only averaged 3.9 YPC and was under 4 YPC carry in 12 of 18 games.

I don't buy that the young guys will improve. Development isn't that easy and the three young guys on the offensive line this year didn't improve. Dotson was better as a rookie. Moore had his moments, but really struggled in pass protection, and Green regressed and I'm not even sure if he's an NFL player.

The Steelers arguably have five guys who could be replaced on the offensive line and two immediate holes with Okorafor and Turner hitting free agency.

We could upgrade the depth on the defensive line, but if they don't fix the offensive line we will see more incompetence from this group next season. What'd we score, 1 first half touchdown in 7 weeks? Unacceptable.

Heyward may only have a couple years left.
Heyward wasn't committing to coming back NEXT year in his presser last night. I think he's just about done pounding his iron head against a brick wall with this coach.

Holy ****! Tom's a comedian too! Winning Now? Holy ****. Oh my God. My sides hurt.

When the HC is doing social media videos and dancing because they somehow snuck into the playoffs, you have a problem. There’s not a single other HC in the league doing that. Especially one that’s been around as long as Tomlin. He’s one of the guys, he’s a buddy.

Tomlin started losing once Lebeau left. The team lost discipline and leadership. Ben can only lead so much. Ultimately, they’ll look to the head coach and he does nothing to stop social media **** and other distractions.

Tomlin doesn’t say a peep on the sideline. He says he has input on the offense.. well then he’s a clown. He’s controlled this defense for 5 or more years now and we see the results. He needed 1st round talent at almost every position on defense to field a good one for the first time since Lebeau left..

I think they do ok in the draft it is free agency they suck *** at. Their before the draft after the draft and during the season player personnel decision making is horrific. It carries onto the field where they make bone head decisions. Then they repeat their bone head **** over and over again always late to make a decision if at all. They didn't have to force Green into the C start they did. They didn't have to sit on their hands when Tuitt and Alu went down they did. They didn't have to keep Spillane on the field in passing situations they did. They didn't have to start two rookies on the Oline they did. They didn't have to clear 10 mil and not use it, but that was their approach. They didn't have to keep Canada all year, but did. They didn't have to bottom feed their assistant coaches instead of bringing in more experienced candidates they did. They could have treated the Nelson and Ingram decisions better they didn't. Bad decision after bad decision after bad decision. You keep the bad decision makers in charge you will get more of the same.

Moore will be our LT next year. Banner and Dotson will be in the mix for spots on the line. Green will probably be our C unless Hausennauer beats him out but there is no doubt Green will be stronger and have better technique after an NFL offseason. Will it be enough? Who knows. Green is definitely too small to be an NFL G but with strength and better technique, he can be a starting C. Turner is gone and Chuks should be signed as a backup only. He is not a starter. If he walks, no big deal as he has barely improved in 4 years with the Steelers. Get another legit starter in FA and a starter in our 1st 2 draft picks and the O-line is already a hell of a lot better than this year. They won't be an all-pro line but they will be much better than this year.

This team is built on D - always has been and always will be. Letting teams run all over us is beyond unacceptable and you can't win games that way. If the DL sucks, so does the rest of the D. Fix the DL and the LB's look better as does the secondary. We have Cam right now and no one else and he is done in a couple years. They must also bring in a legit starter on the DL and draft a monster DL with one of our 1st 2 picks that can plug the middle. Adams and Loudermilk will be pieces moving forward (or should be) but neither will command double teams consistently in the middle and stuff the run. We need a guy like Georgia's Davis. **** the pundits and their bullshit about not needing a true NT. Just look at Vita Vea and the massive contract he just signed. Pundits are idiots.

I get this, BUT. That would be fine if you were a player or two away. This team is legitimately 10-12 players away, you don’t fix that in a single off season.

1. QB
2. #1 WR, we have a couple of #2’s
3. Center
4. Guard
5. Tackle
6. Punter
7. DT
8. DE
9. ILB
10. S
11. CB
12. CB

Now, you can’t get all these in one go, but they need them all. I would concentrate on getting 2 starters on O & D then upgrade the worst, if possible. 2 more each side next year, and then they could be in business.

I totally agree, they aren't a player or two away, but with the cap space they have, they need to go get some guys that can play now and not wait for guys in the draft to develop. It's a tough ask and almost impossible to turn it around in one offseason, but I'm mainly saying is they need to change their approach a little, have a little more urgency with they have Watt and Cam at such a highlevel.

Don't forget about the dire need for an effective HC and staff. Regardless of who we draft or pick up in free agency, we aren't going anywhere while Mr. Don't Blink is captain of this vessel.

Maybe I didn’t make my position clear, I was referring to FA to get the starters, Draft for what you couldn’t fill.

I have given up on that upgrade line of thought. Tomlin obviously has photos of AR2 ******* goats or something. He is only leaving when HE decides to, AR2 is not going to let him go. Too many people are cheering his no losing season streak for that to happen. Brinks Trucks back up to the front office daily, why make changes when the Yinzer’s continue to support mediocrity?

Steelers are in a real bind and normally when you get in a twist of this nature you fire some ppl and bring in new blood. That hasn’t been working for the Steelers. we have had a revolving door with secondary coaches and offensive coordinators. Both are critical in the modern game of football. The fact tomlin can’t get a grip on either is scary going forward. in three games Mahomes has thrown 14 TD passes, before Mahomes it was Tom Brady. As Steelers we know you “have” to beat the best to be the best, and as Steelers we all agree, the Steelers will never be the best under Mike tomlin… it just ain’t going to happen, so where do we go what do we do? At the very minimum you have to upgrade the coaching staff but I doubt if they do… Canada being in charge of a new quarterback search and his development is just the most bullshit thing you could think of as being a step in the right direction for the Steelers and Butler on defense? He still hasn’t grasped the nature of defending the tightend! He’ll go to his grave never having grasped it! First gronk now Kelce he just don’t fukn get it! The game keeps changing defenses that just rely on blitzing get killed good teams “want“ you to blitz it gets players out of position and the qb can easily find the open man. Going forward is going to be very difficult and very painful without a “deep” rethink about how to best reform the Steelers and to get the team back to its winning ways.

New England made many improvements to their roster last year via free agency. I don't see why we can't do something similar. I won't pretend to know who is available, but say we are 10 players away from a solid team. I would think 7-8 can be added in FA and another couple in the draft. You can really change the roster in one year which could not be done years ago.

Player Personnel:

1. QB fa vet stopgab for 1 year Foles Minshew Jimmy G, rookie Ridder Pickett(estimate will cost pick 20, rnd 3, 6, with our holes i would trade this years rnd 1 and next years futures i.e rnd 3, 5 to move to 5-6) estimated as of now where Pickett will go based on Carolinaand Giants needs, could see NYG taking Neal if he gets to them.
2. Center - lGreen moved to Guard Jensen Lindstorm BC we can let Turner go and just plug Green at RG, re sign JC viable versaitility and depth.
3 Tackle RT Moses or a mid round pick like Stuber who has the traits this OL needs physical in your face power Darian Kinnard possible rnd 2-3 combine will tell
4. ILB to'o to'o or Tindall, Spilliane should only be on ST and goaline downs, cant cover for ****
5. CB resign Witherspoosider coby bryany Cincyn, bring in a real slot CB not some cast off like Maulet, some CB to cosider draft coby bryant cincy Uga outside CB Derion Kendrick bama Jobe
6. ILB Tindall JoJo Domann edge gaye
7. WR Pierce Wan’Dale Robinson Metchie 111 calvin austin iii 4.3 Jaivon Heiligh 6"2 4.3 diamond in the rough
8. RB - Super fast like Hardman or the guy who gashed us tonight. Cook JR absolute mismatch nightmare can do all the things brady did with james white and bewn did with bell asa rb and WR
9. S a bigger S to mix in with Edmunds when faced with guys like Kelse Waller CJ Oz, when teams flank these TE out.
