So it came up again during the Pats and the Eagles game, so I ask how many think the Patriots cheating gave them an edge or not. I know the NFL down played this with a vengeance but anyone who's ever played knows if we have their play book, were going to destroy them. Just like the Pat & Steelers playoff game. Still steaming Steelers Fan.

No worries. Roger fixed that problem. Just like he's gonna fix violence against women now.

look at how much info came out about the Saints bounty stuff, and how much it was talked about. The fact this was shoved under the rug so quick proves it was pretty major.

why do something that doesn't help you? as for the people that say all the teams were doing it, cowher did it... my guess is if people actually knew that super bowls where won by cheating then the nfl would lose millions of fans. anyone involved in the nfl from owners to players to coaches to commentators would lose a **** ton of money so they all down play it..

If it didn't help them and wasn't significant then why would Roger have destroyed the evidence? That alone makes me feel their SB wins should have asterisks next to them.

Exactly. If it didn't help, they would have shown the evidence. How many games over that stretch did they win by 7 or less points? I'd find it hard to believe it didn't give at least a 3-7 point advantage.

More proof? Before Kraft? 0 SB championships. With Kraft and before caught? 3'. Since? Goose ******* Egg.

Not going to go against a team and owner that is the class of the East. Gödel has proven over and over he goes after the ones who pisses him off and strokes the one he love. Conveniently destroying tapes.

it absolutely gave them an advantage. Maybe it was only a small advantage but the Pats won all of their SBs by a FG so a small advantage may have been the difference. Not to mention, the Pats won many tight games along the way to those SBs. It was their strength, winning tight games where a small advantage could have been the difference.

That's the thing. Even if it gave them a miniscule advantage, a lot of games are close enough that 3 to 5 plays can tip the balance. It HAD to give the Pats* more than that or Rog wouldn't have destroyed the evidence.

I still firmly believe that the Pats* cheating kept the Steelers from winning at least one more Super Bowl.

It was a huge deal.

So much so that it changed many long time fans opinion of the NFL.

Still love my Steelers, but Goodell has changed the game and not for the better in my opinion.

Part of the blame goes to the owners though because they allow this bull **** to continue.

Most games are decided by 8 plays or less, the majority by 4 plays or less. If the cheatriots were to get 3-5 plays, per game, they make the playoffs. Then everything is intensified meaning better cheating / better results. The outcome of their "magical" runs, could be the benefits of those plays. The justification or reasoning behind the "destroyed" tapes, is criminal in itself. That right there proves wrong doing. The common argument was "you still have to execute & play". Whom ever doesn't think "execute & play" knowing before hand what the play is, isn't an unfair advantage, then are just plain ignorant. The rog knew how damaging the tapes were. He lost less nfl fans by destroying them, than if he had exhibited them. Again proving how bad the cheating was. There are several angles that can be taken on this subject, this is just one. MOST if not all, reflect cheating to variable degrees. HUGE DEAL !!!!!!!

That tape should have been played for all to see not destroyed.

Then perhaps many could have moved past it.

But not knowing the true severity, tells me it was worse than what they wanted us to believe..............

WHAT ABOUT THE TROLLS? Those fans of other teams and locations. Would be nice to hear an outsider chime in. Someone that didn't have as much interest of outcome as STEELERS fans.

My school buddy is a diehard Patriot fan, raised in Pittsburgh (go figure) He picked me up the Steeler fans road trip book Josh Miller just put out.

Anyways I will touch on the subject and get his perspective.............

It was a big deal. Absolutely unquestionably. The fact that it was swept under the rug points towards it being even larger than was eluded to.

You can tell it was a big deal because NFL coaches don't waste time doing stupid ****. You won't catch Billicheat using his personnel, film time and money on something that made no difference. You can also tell it was a big deal because of how the league reacted. They burned the film before it got out. They didn't even trust their own people to safe guard it. They knew how devastating it would be if it every got out.

I bet that there is a copy of ONE of those tapes somewhere - one that someone totally forgot about and some day it will surface ..

I think it would be interesting to hear, although a patsy fan's side. lol

Maybe NOT forgotten, but stashed away, to be used at a later date....... I too, hope it surfaces. Those smug patty cakes at the time, showed little to no class in winning, but a lot of bellly aching in losing. I'd like to see justic.

The only way I could see one surfacing is long after the Goodell and Kraft era.

Or there was no longer a Pats* franchise.

If ever.

Yes HUGE DEAL for many reasons listed already. Bottom line if the tape didn't reveal anything then why have it destroyed. You destroy something when you don't want its contents shared. Also if it wasn't beneficial to record teams then why did that dumb *** McDaniels do the same thing when he was HC for Denver? Learned as an assistant working for that arrogant prick Belicheat. Yes this was completely covered up by the league because they knew the effects of cheating in multiple superbowls on Vegas/Gambling would have been disastrous and unmanageable.
