Payton Wilson

Wilson is perfect for the new disguised defense that graham was one of the architects of… Wilson has speed of a safety he’ll probably most important part of the defense you need 2 good corners to force the action inside there you have these big nickels waiting. Wilson didn’t even start and almost lead the team in tackles. I’ll be shocked if this defense makes the same kind of bone headed plays last years group did. Goodbye Queen they will draft or sign a free agent… I think we will see the kind of defense next year we thought we’d see this year. Draft will probably bring another defensive lineman for depth probably another corner another safety and linebacker. Defense should be good the coordinator is a vet but also an innovator he’s not Mr conservative sitting back and taking like it like the French like the last years staff.

I just hope it isn’t another “historic” defense before the season even gets started…………………

I think both sides of the ball will be drastically changed for the better. The old coach and his scheme will be gone, sort of “skipped town” so to speak………………

Obviously

Salute the nation

Thought he was the dissapointment of the season with Jonnu Smith right behind. I thought he was gonna be a three down backer for years. Was pretty damn good rookie season. Then he talks **** about his pass coverage skills. Should have known right then. Looks very athletic and fast. Certainly plays with intensity. Seems like he wants to be great. He's a little light at the point of attack but still. Not incredibly for modern ILB. Only hope at this point is new eyes and schemes and maybe another hulk up front help him. Otherwise he's gonna bust.
It's his second year... don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

The young man is playing out of position.
He needs to move to outside.
With this higher of Frank Cignetti, I’m starting to think that the Steelers are gonna try to make a deal with the Raiders to get their number one overall and select Mendoza.
I think the deal looks like TJ and our next two years number ones for the right to select number one overall.
With TJ gone, we can move Wilson into the outside linebacker mix, and I think the kid will excel.
I know I just said a big mouthful that a lot of yinz will have a hard time getting through your craniums smoothly…😉
You think Wilson can seal the edge???

Wait...

Tackles. The most convoluted stat ever. Tackles for loss, fantastic, Tackles at three yards. Great. Tackles at 10 plus yards.....Tackles after catches made.......not so good. Im a game watching guy. They started season with him as every down line backer. Their run defense was ***. They replaced him with the Harrison guy from tge Rats. It got better. Tells me the tape didn't look good.
If the ILB is tackling at or after 10 yards - there's a probably up front...

But there is also s recognition, shed and fill problem. Much like Bush. He didn't have a tackle number issue. It was where tgey all were.
He was 20th in the league in solos tackles while being 48th in total snaps. He had an interception a fumble recovery 6 TFLs 2 sacks 16 pressures and far fewer missed tackles than Queen. Again, for his second year in a not great scheme, I have no worries about him.

I wouldn't. No way. Like the kid. He was just tge kost didsappinting player of the starters. Which usnt even to say worst. Just disappointing.
oh no, that achievement belongs to Darius Slay and or Jonnu Smith

those numbers are actually pretty encouraging

So explain to my why his snaps dissapeared slowly as the season progressed.

Definitely agree., Benton should be a DT, not the NT.
Posted this on another thread

Anyone that gives a hoot I have added my top four one technique, defensive lineman.
Here you go:

Hunter - Texas Tech
McDonald - Ohio Stste
McClellan - Missouri
Harris - Ole Miss

Next step are fourth and five technique defensive lineman.

The scheme was exposed and they didn’t make the best use of his skill set. IMHO. This was far more a coaching scheme issue than a player issue. In a predictable defense with simple keys he was not the best at shedding blocks in cold weather against offenses that knew exactly where he would be. Harrison was better suited to the basic scheme. This left us vulnerable in other areas unfortunately. As someone else said his skills should be much better used in a scheme that keeps the offense guessing more.

I hope you are right. Like the player didn't like the results this year. Help if he avoids running his mouth anymore. You get Claypool syndrome very easy doing that.
